Benefactions to the Parish of Tyrley
Mr Joseph Millard who died in November 1727 gave by Will five Pounds Pr Anñ to be paid out of an Estate at the Rye in the Parish of Tyrley and to be Paid out on five Coats Shoes and Stockings and given to five Poor Men (not receiving Parish Pay) within the said Parish who are to make their Appearance cloathed in the same on St Thomas’s Day at Church. The Will of the Donor has been regularly complyed with till the year 1787 when Payment ceased and has since been refused. This Will of the Donor complied with this year 1791 and not since.
The Reverend Mr Bateman Vicar of the Parish of Tyrley gave Twenty Pounds which were laid out in an acre of Land in kings End the Profits thereof to the Poor Yearly for ever.
Mrs Susannah Gwyne gave four Acres three in Harly and one in Churchfield, the Profits thereof to be distributed to the Minister and Overseers of the Poor Yearly on Easter Day for ever.
In the year 1751 Mrss Jane & Mary Atwood of Tewksbury gave in their Life time an Acre of Pasture or Orchard Ground in the Parish of Tyrley called Netherstone Leasow to the Minister and his Successors to preach or cause to be preached in Tyrley Church a auitable Sermon on Ascension Day.

The above was taken from a Tomb Stone in ye Church Yard and here inserted. Mrs S Gwinne Burial not being registered. Ye Burials of ye other two are mentioned in ye Register.

Tithe Grass on Whitson Sunday
Extract from a former Register wherein it is recited that Mrs Susannah Gwinne left twenty Shillings pr Ann according to the Disposal and other Executors Paid by ye Overseers.
Mr Joseph Millard’s Benefaction here stated to have been originally given in November 1727 & to have continued in course of payment until the year 1787 & then to have ceased & with the single exception of the year 1791 not to have been paid since, was recovered through the instrumentality of the Commissioners appointed by Act of Parliament to enquire into the state of the Public Charities in the year 1828 & has since been regularly paid. The Benefaction is in the shape of a discharge & the present Owners of the property upon which it lies is Mr William Higgins from Chaceley. Mr Higgins was required at the same time to pay up eight years arrears which he was obliged to comply with. Mr Higgins has since sold the property to Hebt Herbert of Cheltenham.
