Jackson, Jackson, Ohio. (16-1850,
23-1860, 40-1880, Apr 1840-1900) William is probably the son of Patrick
M. Worsham & Bathsheba Oakes (Page 272). Thomas Washam age 16 b OH is in the 1850
Franklin, Jackson Co, OH census living with William Howe age 30 b OH & his wife Mary age
21 b VA. All other cens records show his birth in Virginia. In the 1851
Franklin, Jackson Co, OH census he is listed as Thomas Washam. W. T. Washam m Tabitha Branchcom (Branscomb)
30 Dec 1857 in Jackson, Jackson, OH. (vol D, p23) The Union Army Civil War
Pension file for William Thomas Washam has him in Co. F, 2nd regmt., OH heavy
artillery. William T Washam
enlisted 17 Aug 1863 at the age of 24 & discharged 1 Sep 1865. Tabitha was b Jun 1841 of Jackson, Ohio, and d Apr 1924 of Jackson,
Ohio. William bur 31 Mar 1906

William Howe, s/o William Howe, Mary Cooke (Cook), was b 16 Sep 1820 d 25 May
1877 & bur Ratcliff Cem, Jackson Co, OH. The sister, Mrs. Dove mentioned in the
following biography is probably 1.5.4.1.2.1.3. Elizabeth Worsham b abt 1812 d/o
William & Frances Giles Worsham on Page 272. Elizabeth m Coleman Dove 18
Dec 1828 Pittsylvania Co, VA & moved to Jackson Co, OH. In 1870 Elizabeth
and her husband lived very near William T. Washam in Lick Twp, Jackson Co, OH.

Jackson County Biographies: Residents of Lick Township (http://www.scioto.org/Jackson/bios/lick.html)is:
“William T. Washam born in Pittsylvania County VA 27 April 1840, and is a
son of William and Fanny (Collins) Washam, the former of Scotch and latter of
Welsh descent. He was left an
orphan when very young, and when four years old came with his sister, Mrs. Dove,
to Jackson County, Ohio. He
obtained a good education by attending the common schools, and worked at brickmaking till the breaking out of the late war. 20 September 1863 he enlisted in Company F, Second Ohio Heavy Artillery,
and was on duty at several different places. He participated in the battles of Strawberry Plaines, Bullos Gap, and
Athens, TN, and in 1864 was a delegate to the Ohio State Convention that elected
Cox for Governor. He was mustered
out of service at Nashville, TN and was discharged at Columbus, OH 29 September
1865, when he returned home and followed farming till 1868. He then engaged in the mercantile business in Jackson and in 1871, his
nephew became a partner, the firm name being Washam & Co. until 1873. In that year he purchased one-eighth interest in
the Ophir Iron Furnace, and soon after purchased three-fourths of the stock, and ran the
furnace for eighteen months. He then sold his furnace and mercantile interests and
has since been engaged in farming and manufacturing brick. 31 December 1857 he was
m to Tabitha, daughter of Benjamin and Tabitha
(Seward) Branscomb. Five of the six
children born to them were living: John J., William T., Jr. Nellie O., David and
Stella B. Harry B. died, aged
three years. His wife is a member
of the Presbyterian church. He has
served his township as Treasurer two years, and for the past several years held
the office of Township Trustee. In
1870 he was elected a member of the Board of Equalization, and re-elected in
1880, his present term expiring in 1890. He
is a member of Trowel Lodge No. 132, A. F. & A. M. of Jackson, and member of the
Chapter R. A. M. of the same place. He is also a member of Salt Lick Lodge, I.O.O.F., of Jackson, and of the
American Order of Red Men, and of the Knights of Labor.”

20 Apr 1896); appointed Acting Night Captain Apr 21, 1896, while Night Captain R.S.
Worrall served as Acting Chief. Reverted back to patrolman Jun 3, 1896, when W.
Ellis Wise sworn in as Chief. Suspended 9/6/1897 by the mayor "owing to
conduct. He resigned between 21 Sep and 4 Oct 1897 and joined the Philadelphia
Police Department as a member of the famous Reserves, the members of which were
known for their gigantic stature. He was 6'5" tall. Badge #3.”

anecdotal evidence. I noticed that your information stops our family line with my
grandfather. I don't have all the information, but this is what I can provide:
William T. Washam b. 1840 in Jackson, OH m. Tabitha Branscomb. Their son William T.
Washam was my great-grandfather and the father of my Grandfather, William Thomas
Washam IV. My grandfather, Willaim T. IV was born on July 1, 1900. This is where
your history stops. William Thomas IV married Sarah Bernice Evans, b. September 1,
1902. Sarah Bernice was also born in Jackson County (Daniel and Lillian Evans).
Thomas and Bernice had two sons, William Thomas V (my dad) on January 25, 1922 and
Daniel Evans Washam, February 1926 (?). Dan married Colleen Jenkins and had two
children, Daniel Kent (1950) and Jan Ellen (1953). William Thomas married Mary Alice
Holt, b. January 2, 1924 and had three children: William Thomas VI b. June 9, 1947
now deceased, Susan Holt Washam, b. November 12, 1949, and Sara Anne, b. September
20, 1953. My dad is still living; uncle Dan has passed away. (Daniel) Kent has two
sons, Morgan Evans Washam and Daniel James Washam. Jan m. Ricky Smith and has two
daughters, Emily and Kelly. There are no children from my brother Tom, known as
"Red" and my sister Sara, who goes by Sally and is married to Robert Cody. I have
two sons with John Philip Witten, b. May 8, 1950: Joshua Turner Witten, b. July 10,
1979, and Benjamin Tucker Witten, b. May 14, 1981. Joshua is married to Jennifer
Joanne Taylor and has a daughter Elizabeth Taylor Witten, b. August 1, 2008."

Dave Washam at her home in Mansfield last Thursday evening. Although Mrs. Washam
has been in frail health for some time, her death was entirely unexpected as she
had gone about her household duties as usual up to the time of her death. No
particulars have yet been received as to the funeral arrangements. Mr. and Mrs.
Tom Washam and Miss Stella Washam left for Mansfield Friday morning.”
