"Worsham, Maryellen - 86, passed away
September 17. She was preceded in death by: her late husband of 50 years, John Gilbert
Worsham; parents, Carl and Francis Musebeck. Maryellen was a long time member of
Sequoyah Presbyterian Church. She is survived by: her brother, Bill Musebeck of
Georgetown, Texas; sons, John Mark Worsham of Knoxville and Michael William Worsham of
Nashville; grandchildren, Baron, Christie and Max; great grandchild, William Avery
Worsham, all of Nashville. Maryellen graduated from Virginia Intermont and attended
the University of TN of Knoxville. She was an avid bridge player and was an active
member of Deane Hill Country Club. She was also a member of Nine O'Clock Cotillion.
For many years she was engaged in retailing and Property Management. in lieu of
flowers, the family request memorials be made to: Sequoyah Presbyterian Church. A
brief memorial service will be held at the Church Thursday at 2 pm."

 Betty was a
native of Knoxville, TN and the daughter of the late William and Dona Atkins Dawson.
She was a loving mother and housewife. Betty moved from West Palm Beach, FL and had
spent the last six years here with her son. She was a member of the First Baptist
Church in Lake Park, FL and an Honorary member of the Culberson Volunteer Fire
Department. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, James F. Worsham.
She is survived by one son James F. Worsham and his wife Sharon of Murphy, NC, nephew
Andy Worsham and his wife Martha of Knoxville, TN; her lifetime friends Clara Wilson
of Knoxville, TN and Bernice Lick of Murphy, NC; three grandchildren Larry Worsham and
his wife Elaine, Lori Atkinson and Lonnie Brevik and his wife Mori and 8 great
grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M., Friday, October 20, 2006 at the Townson
Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy, NC. Pastor Dough Arrington will officiate.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Culberson Volunteer Fire Department and
Tony Graham.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday, October 20, 2006
at the Townson Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy, NC.

electrician with Local 760 for many years. Veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors: wife of 26 years, Margaret Worsham of Powell; daughter and son-in-law,
Vivian and Christopher Ott; son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Mary Lee Worsham, all of
New Jersey; 5 grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at Central Church Of God with Bishop
Jack Dean officiating. Internment to follow at Tennessee Veterans’ Cemetery. Family
will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Stevens Mortuary, Oglewood Avenue

Vinson, M. O. Vincent. She would be my great grandma on my mothers side. My fathers mother was a

There is no wife listed, but there are 5 children, Mary age 20, Missonia C age 15, Sarah
F. age 13, Dora Bell age 8, and Masutta age 6. I found out that Sarah F. md H. B. Scott
16 Aug 1881 at her fathers home. The Tommy Worsham I remember had no children. He and his wife, Evie Mae Warren, adopted a son Thomas Lloyd Worsham b Aug 31, 1936. He lives in St. Louis.

married name was Worsham (husband's unknown). She had a son Tommy Worsham. My
ggrandfather, Jasper Bone, had a sister Mary Dolly Bone Wilmoth (b 1867). Mary Dolly Wilmoth had two daughters, Iler and Inor Wilmoth (b late 1880s since her mother was b 1867). The story is that Tommy Worsham shot Inor Wilmoth, she died 16 days later. The Bone family members were all b in Hickman Co, KY. Mrs. Barbara Bowman, wife of Floyd Bowman of 2314
Sunset, died at 6:30 a.m. Sunday at Alton Memorial hospital where she had been
a patient since Saturday. Mrs. Bowman had been ill three years and the family
had learned several weeks ago her condition was critical. She underwent
surgery in 1948. Mrs. Bowman was born Aug. 12, 1890, a daughter of F. W.
Worsham, at Herrin and was married Sept. 23, 1909 at Marion. The family moved
from West Frankfort to Alton in 1933 and resided in Upper Alton until three
years ago when they moved to the present address. She was a member of Main
Street Baptist church and was active there until her health prevented her from
attending. Young people acquainted with the children still residing at home,
Jack, Billie and Joyce, enjoyed visiting in the Bowman home and Mrs. Bowman's
jovial personality brought the young people there often. Her one desire was to
live and see her children grown and established in life. The youngest child,
Joyce, was graduated from Alton High School with the June class. Besides her
husband and children residing at home she is survived by four other children,
Mrs. Floyd Huffstutler, Mrs. Clyde Steele Jr, Mrs. Joseph Greenwall and Floyd
Bowman Jr. , all of Alton; a sister, Mrs. Ada Barham of Johnson City. A
sister, Mrs. Mary Willis of Alton preceded her in death a year ago. She also
leaves 13 grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm Wednesday
at Main Street Baptist Church by Rev Arthur Ulrich. Burial will be in the

"I'm the g-g-grandaughter of Mariah Worsham. Mariah and
Dabney, as well as Mariah's sister "Aunt Dee" and her husband
"Col. Allen", lived in Amelia on the farm that I grew up knowing as
"the Old Hardy farm." My father grew up on that farm and remembers
Aunt Dee as well as being told about Col Allen and my father's g-grandparents,
Mariah and Dabney. I have photos of Mariah, Aunt Dee and Col Allen. I also
have an
 old photo album that belonged either to Mariah or Aunt Dee. The only
photo's with names on them are Margaret Virginia Worsham, Lutie Worsham and Willie
Worsham. We are reasonably sure that
one of the other photos is Mariah as a young woman and another is Col Allen.
There are an additional 9 photo's that are unidentified. Also, Aunt Dee's and
Col. Allen's graves are located on the farm I mentioned above. We are planning
to put up a marker to properly identify the graves. Right now there are a
handful of us who know where their unmarked graves are located."
The first and
second pictures were taken in Richmond, VA and were printed by the
same  photographer on the same stock with the same decoration. The next two
pictures (3rd and 4th) of the children were taken by the same photographer, ie,
G. W. Minnis, 47 Sycamore
Streeet, established 1847 and the
picture of the young girl has the following written below the photo: "My
best love to all.
Guess who I am." The fifth picture of the two young men are
believed to be Worsham's.
On the back of the sixth photo, the young woman with a Mexican style
comb in the back of her hair, is "J. T. Hendrick,
Shadder, Catcher, Texas."
Cindy
would love to get all the people identified; anyone who has photos of
Worsham's who lived in the 1800's and are connected to the ones in Amelia
would be appreciated.

broken and it is not impossible that she was injured internally. Mrs. Walter

of the 5600 block of Seminole Ave, and formerly of Norfolk, died Nov 7, 2001, at
Lynchburg Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Norfolk on Feb. 11, 1915, he
was a son of the late William Allen Worsham and Eleanor Dillon Worsham. Mr.
Worsham was retired from the Norfolk Naval Ship Yard. He is survived by five
nieces and nephews, Edwin Worsham Dovel of Big Island, Mary Dillon D. Cure of
Lynchburg, Thomas Branch Worsham Jr. of Savannah, Ga., Mike Worsham and Nancy
Worsham, both of Norfolk; and many great-nieces and -nephews. A graveside service
will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk. Diuguid
Wiggington Chapel.
