It is possible that John is the son of
Miles Washam "Worsham" b abt 1790 Chesterfield, VA and Mary Ann
Sterns b abt 1795 of Mecklenburg, NC. They lived in McMinn Co, TN. In the 1833
McMinn Co, TN Deeds, vol A, p172, no 4151:
Miles Washam enters agreeably to law the
South half of the South East qr of Sec 22nd Township 4th Range 2nd East of the Meridian,
Monroe County, Hiwassee District beginning South East corner - 29 March 1833- M. Washam
I do certify the above to be a true copy of the records of my office 29 March 1833 Nat
Smith Entry Taken.

1m 5-10, 1m 10-15, 1m 30-40, 2f 15-20, 2f 20-30, 1f 50-60, p135. Levi was b in VA,
lived in Mecklenburg Co, NC and settled in McMinn Co. Levi later moved to Marshall
Co, TN where a probable brother of John Wesley Washam also moved. His name was
William B Washam b Apr 1836 of McMinn, TN & d 13 Jan 1904 of Saline, Illinois.

Renee Sinks, 1999) She was b 28 Jul 1841 of McMinn, TN, the d/o Henry Grayson. John Warsham and Mary are
in the 1860 McMinn Co, TN cens. According to his Civil War Pension File, John W.
Washam served with Co. B, 7th regmt., TN Mount Inf & in 1869 was in
Harrisburg, Saline Co, IL. In 1867 John Washum sold to Baxter Reed property in
McMinn Co, TN (DB O, p324) John Washum and Mary age 20, are in the 1870 McMinn
Co, TN census, #38. John & Mary E. Washum are in the 1880 Jackson Co, AL
cens, his parents are shown as b SC & NC. In the 1900 Hood Co, TX cens, John
W. Washum & Mary C., show his parents born SC & SC. John W. Washam is in
the Hood Co, TX Chattel Mortgage & Lien Register 1899-1901, p. 39, p. 149
& p. 207. John W, age 77, & Mary C are in the 1910 Clark, Dewey Co, OK
cens, with his parents born SC & NC. Mary is bur in Panther Creek Cem,
Hughes Co, OK as Mary C. Washam July 28 1841 - June 27 1913, 71y 10m 29d.

b. TN, and his wife is Carline. In the 1920 Clinton, Custer, OK cens, he is W.
J. Washum, age 58, parent born NC & TN & Caroline is age 58. In
1930 he is in the Arapaho, Custer, OK cens, as William J. Washum age 70 b TN
with his 3rd) wife Marie age 58 b MO.

grandpa's mothers name was Molly Washum. I don't know a maiden name. Jessie
Coleman had a second wife after Eldora her name was Virginia Washum, born:

Jessica Sturgill, 2006, writes:
I have
attached a photo of my mother when she was a teenager. Her name
is Retha G. Witt, now Spellman, born  February 15, 1939. Her father was Benjamin Witt
who was married to Bessie Witt, formerly Fletcher. As you might notice from the photo,
my mother was much younger than her siblings. Bessie had mom at the age of 46, and our
family has always referred to her as the "change of life" baby. Ben and
Bessie both died within six months of each other during my mother's senior year at
Gage High School, class of 1957, in Gage, Oklahoma. I'm not sure when this photo was
taken, but I have been told that grandpa was ill in the last part of his life, and I
think that it was showing on his face at the time this picture was taken.
Ethel F. Witt, 2006,
wrote, her father, Orie L. Witt is standing behind my grandmother, last on the
right with his hand in his pocket in the above photo. Orie was born 12 May 1918 and
died 11 Jun 2003 of Binger, Caddo, OK.
