Ann Smith, b abt 1833, she contested his will which forbade her to remarry, on pain of losing her inheritence, and won.

She married for the second time in 1850 to A C McDonald, one of the soldier's who came in Stevenson's Regiment, and also he was the County Treasurer. They owned a roadhouse called the "Hermitage" near what is now Cloverdale. Ann Smith and A C McDonald had nine children.
