Note: JOHN was born in the Muddy Creek area of Lancaster Co. He was baptized at Trinity Luthuran Church, New Holland, on 26 Apr 1804 by Rev. John Plitt. He was three years old when his mother, ANNA MARIA LESSLEY, died. As a child he moved with his family to the Annville area.
In 1832, after JOHANN and ANNA were married, JOHANN purchased his father-in-law's (JOHN BERNHARD) 119 acre farm for $3,824. The farm was located in Londonderry Twp., Lebanon Co., (M649 LebCCH)
JOHANN continued to farm in Londonderry Twp. He appears in the 1850 Federal Census as living with his wife, 6 children and Elizabeth Bernhard, who was ANNA'S sister. The value of his real estate in 1850 was $4500. In 1860 he was listed in the Federal Census as a retired farmer, living with his wife ANNA, his daughter Frances and sister-in-law Elizabeth. His real estate was valued at $5800 and his personal estate was $304. By the 1880 census JOHN was 76 and living with his wife Fanny in N. Annville Twp.
JOHN was active in the Bellegrove Lutheran Church. He was listed as a church Elder in 1857 and a Trustee in 1861. Also in1816 he was listed as a contributor to the missionary cause and the lightning rod fund.
ANNA died at the age of 61. After her death JOHANN married Fanny Seltzer. JOHANN died at the age of 68.
In the Bellegrove Lutheran Cemetery we find this surname spelled Lessley, Lessle, Leslie, Lessly. In one case the husband's name was spelled Lessly and the wife's name was spelled Lessle!

Note: Philip Fernser arrived in the port of Phila. on 18 Sept 1727 on the ship William and Sarah, late from Rotterdam & Dover (?), William Hill, Master (among whom are no convicts). There were 400 people, including families, on the ship. The Strassburger & Hinke book of German Immigrants did not have a copy of Philip's signature. The oath of allegiance was taken on 21 Sept 1727. He lived in Warwick Twp., Lancaster Co. and attended Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Brickerville. He was married by Rev. John Casper Stoever and the marriage records state 26 April 1731 - more consueto were married legally Johann Philipp Firnssler, legitimate son of Friederich Firnssler, and Maria Barbara Georgin, legitimate daughter of Hans Michael Georg. The records are in Trinity Lutheran Church, Lancaster, Vol.I book. The family moved to Lebanon Co. c. 1742 and attended the Hill Church, Annville.
