Note: During the Revolutionary War, Peter Withmier, along with his brother Michael Withmier, served in Capt. Miller's Company of Militia, command by Coll. Joseph Hister, May 31, 1781, Berks Co. (PA Archives, 5th Series, Vol. V, p.212). On 8 May 1784 Peter Witmeyer was listed as being a member of Capt. Peter Nagel's Comp., Berks Co. (PA Archives, Series 6, Vol. III, p. 87)
After the Revolutionary War, Peter served in the 2nd Co. of the 2nd Bat. of the 1st Regiment of the Dauphin Co. Militia. On 9 Jul 1794, he was listed as a 5th classman (PA Archives, 6th Series, Vol. V, p. 251 and "Dauphin Co. Militia Rolls 1793-1794"). In Aug 1837, when he was about 77 years old, he was granted a Revolutionary War Pension of 40 dollars from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. (Laws of PA of the Session of 1886-87, p. 14.) A record of the pension payment to Peter is recorded in Records of the Auditor General's Office Pension Books, 1837, Vol. 9, p. 22. In the 1840 Federal Census, Peter Witmoyer is listed as a Revolutionary Pensioner living in Frantz Witmoyer's household.
In the Church Records of the Heidelberg, Cacusi, St. John's or Hain's Church in Berks Co. there is listed Peter Wittmeyer and Margaretha Stuhl who were sponsors at the birth of Philipp Stuhl and wife's daughter, Margaretha, 6 Feb 1786.
In the Church Records of the Altalaha Church, Rehrersberg, Berks Co., Peter Wittmeyer and Elisabeth Jenzern, single, are listed as sponsors at the baptism of Elisabeth, daughter of Michel Wittmeyer and Maria, born 26 Aug 1784, baptised 20 Feb 1785.
JAW, Sr. states in his memoirs that Peter "had five sons and one daughter. The boys settled down in Lebanon Co. except Thomas - he settled in Dauphin Co. near Steelton, and the daughter was never married. After their mother died Peggy kept house for her father till he tired and then they quit and the father (Peter) lived with the boys till he died. At last he was so unfortunate that only two of the boys did give him a home - Samuel and Frantz. That is how some children treat their parents. So he died and is buried at Kimmerling's Cemetery north of Lebanon towards Mt. Zion, PA." (To date Peter's grave has not been located in Kimmerling's Cemetery or any other Lebanon Co. Cemetery.)
