[S102] Obituary of Mary A. Merritt Walston, a typed transcript supplied by Bob and Marilyn Arndt, "Mary A. Merritt, daughter of Jerome and Rebecca Merritt was born near Olin, Jones County, Iowa, Feb. 6, 1862, and died at the home of her son, Ward, on Sat. Jan. 16, 1943, at the age of 80 years, 11 months, 10 days. On Jan. 18, 1883, she was united in marriage with Charles E. Walston. To this union four children were born, Charles Lee, who died in early childhood; Laura, now Mrs. Charles Schafer of Crystal Lake, Ill.; Ward Jerome, of Manchester, and Mrs. Blanche Thorpe, who died in 1927. Her husband prededed her in death Nov. 19, 1941." Another photocopy of a newspaper article mentions funeral services Monday afternoon with interment in Oakland Cemetery.

On Monday morning, March 29, while sitting by the stove at his home he became unconscious and so remained until his death. He was united in marriage to Sarah Waite Aug 12, 1852".

Levi in Row 23, Sect 3, grave 26 and Sarah in grave 25. This information was supplied to the city by Harlan Cozart, now deceased. There are no markers on the graves.

[S1646] Benjamin Boger, probate file, Franklin Co, PA, Vol. B, p. 241, "On the 15th day of August 1815, Letters of Administration in the common form were granted to William Davis, Gent. of the estate of Benjamin Boger, dec'd." Benjamin was listed on Muster Roll 30 Apr 1815, therefore date of death can be placed between May and August of 1815.

"This is the last will and testament of Barbara Bogar of Hamilton Township Franklin County and state of Pennsylvania. I do hereby dispose of all the Estate and property of which I am posesed in the manner following that is to say; after my lawfull debts and funeral expences are paid I will and bequeath unto my daughter Christena Bogar all and every part of the Estate and property of which I posess and lastly I do hereby nominate Samuel Cox Executor of this my last will and testament in testimony Whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal this sixth day of October One thousand eigh[t] hundred and seventeen. Barbara her X mark Bogar. Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of us Robt Ligget, William Cox. Franklin County on the 19th day of December 1817..." On 16 Oct 1819, Christiana Boger granted a release to Samuel Cox, Executor. She received $132.74 1/2. [Note: The Surname Index to Register of Wills lists Barbara Boger Estate no. 1504. Estates through no. 1185 have been microfilmed. The card catalogue indicates that many numbers are missing and many papers are missing. Employees at the Franklin County Courthouse deny knowledge of estate packets, therefore I have been unable to locate estate papers for Barbara Boger.]

[S1859] Death certificate of Sarah Walston, State of Iowa, no. 53, photocopy of uncertified certificate in possession of Win Wood. Died of appoplexy at 12:30 a.m., duration 7 days.
[S1875] Waite family record, two pages of handwritten births, deaths and marriages. On the back is written, "Grace please give these records to Mother." Taped to it is a small newspaper clipping on the death of Thos Waite. Photocopy of record taken from Alverna Manlove Young's "Walston" in possession of Win Wood. The original two pages of records are in the possession of LaVaughn Fowlie, 1994.
[S2090] John Brown, bastardy bond, "State of North Carolina, Burke County. 26 July 1821. ...the above bounden John Brown the reputed father of a base born child begot on the body of Drucilla Cuningham a single woman of said county." John and Charles Brown both make their marks. The original is in the North Carolina State Archives; copy in possession of Win Wood.
[S2135] Obituary of A.J. Randalls, unknown city (24 Nov 1921), photocopy in possession of Win Wood. "A.J. Randalls Dies. A.J. Randalls died early Tuesday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harry Hussey, near Munden, Kan. Mr. Randalls had been confined to his bed for a couple of weeks, and just shortly before his hour of death, he contracted pneumonia. Obituary will appear next week."
[S2141] Obituary of Charles Cooper, Kellogg News Wardner, Kellogg, ID (Friday, 19 May 1922), Charles Cooper, father of Clarence Cooper, died Tuesday evening at the home of his son following a stroke of paralysis. Mr. Cooper came to Kellogg about three months ago from Oklahoma to make his home with his son and has been in rather poor health for some time. He was born in Ohio on May 6, 1852 and was seventy years of age last Saturday. Children are named and it states that the funeral was held Thursday afternoon and interment was made in Greenwood cemetery. Photocopy supplied by Janie Russell.
[S2300] The letter in file from Harry Williams states that Levi, son of Levi and Betsy, was born 1824, married Martha Hathaway, moved away & never returned. The birth dates agree. (Martha would have then have to have died or divorced between her 1844 marriage and Levi's 1851 marriage to Sarah Emerson.) And Levi & Betsy named a daughter Mazella. Levi Jr. named a daughter "Mad Ma Mazella" probably a nickname for Mazella, a take off of madmoiselle. Paul T. Cozart, writing a book on Levi, writes that through correspondence with Harry Williams, he received a copy of a 1967 letter from Mrs. Martha Viola Leeds and that she had handwritten the name Levi Jr beside the Levi Sr 1840 census for a son 10-15.
