He was stricken with paralysis on the morning of the 24th of August and remained unconscious until he passed from this life eleven days after. Thomas Jefferson Gilmore was born in Fairfield county, Ohio, April 17, 1844. In 1868 he was married at Olin, Iowa, to Mary Malinda Kaufman who's death fourteen years ago saddened his home. He leaves five children to mourn his loss, all of whom were present at his bedside J. L. Gilmore, W. E. Gilmore, Azelia Gilmore, Mrs. Charles Easton of Casper, Wyoming, Mrs. S. D. Blessing of Muskogee, Oklahoma. Also six brothers and three sisters. Three of his brothers, D. W. Gilmore, F. M. Gilmore of Olin, Iowa, J. P. Gilmore of Harlan, Iowa, were with him during his last hours. The funeral service was held at Fairview church Saturday September 5".

He was married to Grace Blaney, August 1904..." ...one sister Mrs. Frank Knight of Viola and two brothers Stace Gilmore of Cedar Rapids and Forest Gilmore of Olin." Another obit copy in possession of Win Wood may have been from a Des Moines paper. It states that he was married 25 Aug 1904 at Galena, IL.
