Clunk, son of James and Rachel Clunk, was born in Wyandotte County, Ohio, Feb. 14, 1854 and departed this life at his home in Carson City, Nov. 14, 1937, being aged 83 years. He was married to Amanda Shade Jan. 13, 1881. to this union were born five children, three daughters (Grace Pearl, Vesta, and Bertha) and two sons (Archibald and James Frederick). The wife and the three daughters have preceded him in death, the wife having died May 9, 1923. Mr. Clunk came to Carson City in 1902, taking up his residence in his present home. He was baptized in the German Reformed Church. A student at Heidelberg College; taking a course in religious education and teaching. Later he taught school for several years. He leaves two sons, Archibald Clunk of Columbus, Ohio, and James Frederick Clunk of Carson City, Michigan; three grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends who mourn his departure".

Clunk, son of James and Rachel Clunk, was born in Wyandotte County, Ohio, Feb. 14, 1854 and departed this life at his home in Carson City, Nov. 14, 1937, being aged 83 years. He was married to Amanda Shade Jan. 13, 1881. to this union were born five children, three daughters (Grace Pearl, Vesta, and Bertha) and two sons (Archibald and James Frederick). The wife and the three daughters have preceded him in death, the wife having died May 9, 1923. Mr. Clunk came to Carson City in 1902, taking up his residence in his present home. He was baptized in the German Reformed Church. A student at Heidelberg College; taking a course in religious education and teaching. Later he taught school for several years. He leaves two sons, Archibald Clunk of Columbus, Ohio, and James Frederick Clunk of Carson City, Michigan; three grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends who mourn his departure".

Biography* He was living within the limits of Grange Meeting near Charlemont, County Armagh, Ireland. On 4 Jun 1709, he, with his wife and children were received by Newark or Kennett Monthly Meeting, Chester County, PA. He owned 1,013 acres which extended from the middle line to London Grove Township on the west, and from Toughkenamon Hill to New Garden Meeting House. He lived on White Clay Creek, on or near the site of Avondale, and built a grist mill, the first in that region, which did the grinding for the inhabitants many miles around, even, it is said, as far as Lancaster. New Garden Meeting was held at his house as early as 1712. He also owned a smaller tract of land, No. 15, the greater part of which extended into New Castle County. He was appointed a representative to the Provincial As-....(copy pg 136) in 1714, but died that same year." (Immigration of Irish Quakers, pp. 135 and 327)
