Gray, Oxford, NC, in 1980. This letter was written by Micajah Freeman to her uncle & aunt, Wm. & Sally Gray, after Micajah had returned to Indiana from a trip to North Carolina to inform them of his safe return. The letter address was: William Gray, Rowan County, North Carolina, Salsbury Post Office: "State of Indiana Owen County May 22th day 1834. Dear uncle and aunt I now take up my pen at a long distance from you to inform you that we are all well at present thanks be to almity God for his kind merces towards us hoping at the same time that these few lines may find you all injoying the like blesing. Sir I started from North Carolina burk county on the 20th Day of February last and through Gods kind merces towards us we safely reached home on the 23rd Day of march last and found my family all well and my concerns likewise my brother James Freeman moved out with me to this country nither of us met with any misfortain on the way only we were water-bound two Days and stoped two Days with our acquintance on the way my mother in law is living with me and is in common helth I hope you will excuse me for not wrighting to you befor this time my reson is this James Brown took adrove of cattle to the michigan teritory and did not git home until the 20 of ____ we wish to be remembered to all inquiring. A letter dated April 18, 1986 from Gayle Blankenship of Poquoson, Virginia states: "The earliest we have for John Sr. is Prince William Order Book, October Court 1761 (from 1761 - 63 OB) 'John Wigginton and Elizabeth his wife Plaintiff vs. Benjamin Bridges & Elizabeth his wife, Debts in Chancery.' (Also noted in Virginia Genealogical Magazine, Vol. 19.) The postulation that John's wife's maiden name was Elizabeth Farrow is based upon the information regarding the structure of the Farrow and Metcalf families as presented by Miriam Liedtke below and two Chancery suits which involved John and Elizabeth. The Prince William County, Va Order Book 1759-1761, shows that Isaac Farrow, Abraham Farrow, John Farrow, John Metcalf & and Sybil, his wife sued John Wigginton in chancery or (a case of equity). On motion, the complainants were given further time to file their bill. The fact that these people are all related and joined in their action against John Wigginton Sr. strongly suggests that this is a family matter. Note also that there was a suit in 1761 involving Benjamin Bridges suggesting the possibility of a dispute over the settlement of the estate of Abraham Farrow. Sybil Whitledge, widow of Abraham Farrow, married Benjamin Bridges. The following information on the Farrow family clearly establishes the fact that Sybil and Abraham had a daughter Elizabeth. The connection is also supported by the fact that John and Elizabeth Wigginton named one of their daughters Sybil."

John Wigginton qualified as the administrator of the estate of John McGeorge. October 27, 1794. (Page 338 of Book 10, 1790 to 1799.) The starting date for the administration of McGeorge's account was January 27, 1794. Notes on the McGeorge Family from Gayle Blankenship of Poqoson, Va. John McGeorge was born ca. 1728 (1749 deed) and died by January 1794 (by inventory). He had been married before 1763. A land record in Louisa County Deed Book A, p. 354 dated 1749; John Thompson of Hanover to John McGeorge, Kinsman, for love and affection was deeded 200 acres which was sold in 1754. He (John McGeorge) was a resident of Hanover. Cumberland County Order Book 1 p. 280 dated May 27, 1751, John McGeorge plaintiff vs. James Terry, defendant .... a petition for 3-4-0 that defendant says he cannot deny. John McGeorge is in Bedford County by 1769 as indicated by a deed which states he is from Hanover (Deed Book 3 p. 315). Strangely, in 1770 (Deed Book 4 p. 7) he deeds his land in Bedford Co., cattle and personal property to Prudence Terry, daughter of John Terry of Prince William County for natural love and affection. The St. Paul's Vestry Book (Bedford Co., VA?) p. 475 (381) November 12, 1771 to John McGeorge for wine for the lower church 1 lb. & half his acct. 29 lbs. 4 - 1 & 1/4. In the Court Order Book of 1773 of Bedford County, Prudence binds out her children, John, Thomas, Nancy and Margaret Terry. The appraisement of the estate of John McGeorge was made by Daniel Mitchell, James Foster 2/23/1795: Our Kin.
