Abel Emberson (M) b. circa 1785, d. between 1856 and 1860, #785 |
| Biography* | | He first turns up in the 1829 personal property tax list of Jefferson Twp., Muskingum Co., OH. He has two cattle valued at $16.00. He has no horses or land taxed. He is not on any previous tax list in that county. How early he arrives in Muskingum County is unknown. He may be the Abet Emberson in Ross County, OH in the 1820 U.S. Census. He is surely the Abel Emmerson in the 1830 U.S. Census of Jefferson Twp., Muskingum Co., OH, because he is again on the tax list (as Abram Emberson) for that year with the identical listing of two cattle, no horses and no land. Census records list him as a farmer. |
