Lewis Station Cemetery, Deer Creek Twp, Henry Co, MO Clinton MO, Feb 1899 - George Washington Dean's burial was Saturday, the 18th, at Lewis cemetery. He was born in Greenbrier
County, West Virginia, October 10, 1816. Married to
Keturah Windgrove
April 30, 1840. They had 11 children, nine still living. Of these, Mesdames Matilda Fifer of Brownington, Sarah Sprague of Nebraska, Hannah Justice of Memphis, Mo., Addie Tanner and
Nettie Lewis of Lewis Station, and one son, Daniel, were with their father during his last illness. The others, Mary Fifer of Butte
City, Montana, John of Tucson, Arizona and Henry of Montana could not come on account of sickness of themselves or family.
Surely the saddest sight we ever witnessed was when the casket was borne to the bedside of his aged wife and she raised to take
a last farewell of him, who had been her companion for so long. For a month before his death he suffered greatly with the grip and
bronchitis. Through it all he was patient, expressing his willingness and even a desire to die, saying his last journey was the most
beautiful and pleasant of his life for it ended at his eternal home. Among his last words was a request to his children to meet him
