Here is a bit of information I found in
HISTORY OF INDIANA CO., PA 1745-1800
A publication by . J. A. Caldwell, Newark, OH.
JOHN WINGROVE was born in Loudoun
County, Virginia, on the 3rd of June, 1800. He was one of twins, his mate being Nancy, born to
John Wingrove, an
emigrant from England who died in Virginia, one hundred and five years old. When our subject was only five years old, he was bound out to
George Jenny, a slaveholder. In 1822, he removed to Armstrong Co., where he remained about ten years and then removed to Jacksonville. After residing
at other points in the county, in 1840, he removed to his present home. He
married in 1822 to Catharine Wagner, still living, and over seventy five
years of age
His children are:
Mary Ann
Wingrove m. to
George Weamer;

John
Wingrove, Sr. pension application VA. No. 12968 No. S. 11856. Very
interesting but pension was denied.
I believe John
Wingrove, Jr. and twin
Nancy
Wingrove were his children from a marriage to a
Elizabeth Lunn. Probably Elizabeth died and he was married 23 Mar 1809 in
Loudoun Co., VA to Maria Huldfish who was born in 1790 New
Jersey. John Wingrove, Sr. was
living in Ohio Co., VA on the 1850 Census with his daughter Eliza
Nice.
It seems that John, Sr. left England under a cloud. I think he was deported for
Assault and attempted grand larceny. The trial was in Surrey -Kingston - Thames, England.
