POSSIBLE IDENTIFICATION
[ 23 February 2001]
A pure guess, but the 1891 census shows Edmund Wingrove age 73 - a farmer, living
at 8 Park Place, Penn.
He was born at Tylers Green.
His wife is Lydia, also 73.
Living with them are 2 granddaughters, Eliza age 17 and
Margaret age 10,
both born Hazlemere.
Going back through the earlier census, I see that Edmund's son's name is
Shadrach [Shadrick] Wingrove, and the family were indeed in Hazlemere before moving to Penn.
Edmund Wingrove was a farmer of 80 acres, so could easily have had the financial means to own property.
Tylers Green parish records are still in the church, and I haven't
looked at them. I don't believe there is a headstone in the graveyard for
Edmund Wingrove, I have checked it pretty thoroughly.
[Records
for St Margaret's Church Added Jan '04]
There is an IGI entry for an Edmund Wingrove for 1817, Chepping Wycombe Weslyan baptism, son of
Frederick and
Sarah Wingrove.
By coincidence, the 1871 Census has Edmund & Lydia Wingrove living in Farm House,
Tylers Green and there is a Frederick Wingrove (age 86) a widower, of independent
means boarding with them.
I hope this is of some help to identify him.

I'd guess that there are no more than 150-200 graves in the graveyard and
the church is Church of England.
The first two stones are literally next to each other; the third
stone is around the other side of the church.
