The
Wingroves who married into
SHRIMPTON Families

[1.] Jonathan Shrimpton marrying Mary
Wingrove at Penn Buckinghamshire 16th May 1780 was not a
Wingrove. She was a widow on marriage. I don't know her maiden name nor
the name of her Wingrove husband. Mary was buried in Penn on 2nd March
1796. Jonathan Shrimpton was a widower on his marriage to Mary.
His first marriage by licence was to Hannah Wingrove on
12th October 1743 at Great Marlow Bucks, though the name Shrimpton
is written as Srimton in the register. Her age
on burial at Penn on 26th December 1779 of 86 would put her birth at
circa 1693. Jonathan himself was buried 13th September 1796 at Penn the
register giving his status as poor. His age at burial of 80 gives him a
birth date circa 1716. The nearest baptism of a Jonathan to this date
took place 23rd May 1718 at High Wycombe.
[2.] Next Shrimpton Wingrove marriage you list of Richard
Wingrove to Mary Shrimpton took place
on 9th June 1698 at High Wycombe. You state Richard's mother was Sarah
Littleboy. I cannot give any more information on this marriage
other than to note an Elizabeth Shrimpton married a Thomas
Littleboy on 4th March 1693 at St. George the Martyr Southwark
Surrey.
[3.] A further Shrimpton Wingrove marriage that you don't list took
place in Amersham Bucks on 19th July 1877. Thomas Shrimpton
aged 33 a bachelor and labourer of Coleshill, father George
Shrimpton also a labourer, married Matilda
Wingrove, aged 33 a spinster of Coleshill whose father
wasn't named. She was illiterate. One of the witnesses also illiterate
was George Wingrove. Thomas
Shrimpton was born Coleshill [a small hamlet next to Amersham]
on 1st February 1842 and buried 31st January 1914 at Amersham but of
Coleshill. He and Matilda had four children, 2 boys and 2 girls. Matilda
was born Coleshill and her death was registered in 1932 at Billericay
Essex.
