After that she just sat around and cried      all the time. Taken from the October 12, 1928 edition of the Fayette Journal. FATHER OF 22 CHILDREN LEAVES 514 DESCENDANTS Robinson Williams, aged 94 years, died Friday at the home of his son at Long Branch. He was the father of 22 children, 17 of whom are living. He was one of the pioneer settlers of that section. He had been in failing health for the past two years, but had maintained a lively interest in affairs up until his death. The infirmities of advanced age were the cause of his death. The children living are as follows: Garland, Cub, Benjamin, Thomas, Hansford, Renix, Stewart, Ernest Williams; Mrs. Adaline Lafferty, Mrs. Jane Lafferty, Mrs. William Treadway, Mrs. Hemp Wingrove, Mrs. Susie Kincaid, Mrs. Almeda Kincaid, Mrs. William Dotson, Mrs. Charles Lively, Mrs. Lucinda Smith. Of the children, there were two sets of twins. The twins were: Mrs. Kincaid and Mrs. Ferrel, and Mrs. Wingrove and Mrs. Dotson. Mr. Williams left over 500 descendants. There are 164 grand children, the oldest, Bill Williams of Beckley, being 52. The oldest of the 17 living children is Garland, who is 72, and Ernest is the youngest, 40. There are 298 great grand children and 30 great great grand children. This remarkable record of 514 descendants prompts W. E. Stroud of Mt. Hope, one of the grandsons, to offer a $25 reward for one family in West Virginia that can excel it. Mr. Williams married but once. He wife, who was a Mary Jane Stover, died ten years ago. Mr. Williams was long a republican and voted for Abraham Lincoln. He was a member of the Adventist Church. . . .  Miscellaneous items found on members of the family: Mrs. Daisy Lafferty Mrs. Daisy Lafferty, widow of Henry Lafferty, who was killed at Willis Branch, two years ago, died at her home near Pax, last Wednesday from Bright's disease and complications. Bolt Kill Three Cattle Bud Lively, of Long Branch, lost a valuable bull and two heifers Thursday when lightning killed them in the pasture. November 19, 1924 Turkeys at 40 cents Bud Lively, of Long Branch, butchers, in town Monday, reports the local supply of turkeys as scarce this year. He got a drove in Raleigh county for which he paid 40c a pound. Some are asking 50c.   Bob Lafferty Killed By Train at Cirtsville Bob Lafferty, of Nesco, was fatally injured Sunday night when he was run over by a Virginia coal train near Cirtsville, He had been drinking and had some trouble at Pax, but Roy Kidd had taken him near his home in an auto. The engineer of the train saw him lying on the track but was unable to check the train before it passed over him. He was not killed instantly but lived until he reached Mullens Hospital. He was injured about the head and one hand was cut off. Deceased was the youngest son of Ed. Lafferty. He was about 30 years old and leaves a wife and one child. He made his home with his father in law, Mr. Bowyer. February 17, 1926 Pax Cock Fight Thirteen onlookers at a cock fight at the Bud Lively place near Pax were arrested by State Police, Sunday. There were about 50 people at the show which broke up suddenly upon the appearance of the police. Lively, a Fayette county boy, carried off first honors in the international oratorical contest at Martinsburg a few days ago and won the prize of $25 in gold. The title of Mr. Lively's oration which won him fame and honor was "The Last of the Cavaliers," a eulogy of General Robert E. Lee. Mr. Lively was a student from Marshall College and was given a great ovation on his return to Huntington. Born May 1, 1923 at Long Branch, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Nina Dotson Wingrove. Mrs. Brown was a homemaker and a member of Long Branch United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Clayton Brown; and a son Ronald A Brown. Survivors include four daughters, Martha Gay Kile of Germantown, MD, Donna Faye Jarman of Oak Hill, WV, Barbara Ann Atkisson of Chantilly, VA, and Beverly Kay Marschall of Montgomery Village, MD; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, four step great grandchildren; a brother, Willis Wingrove of Long Branch, and two sisters Aileen Hunter of Missouri and Virginia Brown of New Mexico. Service will be 1 pm Saturday at Long Branch Methodist Church with the Revs. Chalmer Abrams and Harmon Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Born Jan. 1, 1925, at Long Branch, he was the son of the late Gilbert and Nina Dotson Wingrove. Mr. Wingrove was a retired coal miner, having worked for Westmoreland Coal Co., Eccles No. 6 mine, in 1980. He was a World War II Army veteran, having served in Battery C, 616 Field Artillery Battalion. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo Stone Wingrove, on June 20, 2001; a son, Willis Edward Wingrove, Jr.; a granddaughter, Melody Lane Bailey; and a sister, Josephine Brown. Survivors include a son, Gary Wingrove and wife, Sandra, of Long Branch; four daughters, Sharon Key and husband, Tom, of Middleburg, Fla., Geneva Bailey of Long Branch, Sherry Abshire of Long Branch and Vanessa Haddock of Starke, Fla.; two sisters, Aileen Hunter of Bourbon, Mo., and Virginia Brown of Grants, Minn.; a special friend, Madge Pritt of Lively; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. The family would like to offer a special thank you to Hospice of Southern West Virginia and to Peggy Parker, a family friend. Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope, with the Rev. Michael Kessinger officiating. Burial will be at Dock Lively Cemetery, Long Branch.
