Reuben Wingrove is listed in several USA census from 1850 through to the 1870 Census as Rheuben, Reuban Wingrove

It appears, at this writing, that Reuben could be a son of Jesse Wingrove & Ann Hinton of Wilton, Wiltshire [See Descendants of Jesse Wingrove]. This would also link him as a brother to Thomas R Wingrove who settled near Richmond VA, marrying in 1847 and who latter moved in Baltimore MD area during the Civil War. The Descendants of Thomas R Wingrove is chronicled in Michael Higgins submission Wingrove Families of Baltimore. 

Michael Higgins notes that another sibling might be Robert Wingrove, Company "F", 4th Missouri Infantry Volunteers [b. ~ 1821] Nat.(?) Tennessee, Residence: Warsaw Missouri when enlisted December, 24,1861.
The possibility also exists that this is Reuben 4th Regiment, Missouri Infantry [External Link]

From other records and the births of Reuben Wingrove's children, 
  Reuben was married in Saint Mary Wilton By Salisbury, Wiltshire abt 1836
  The family arrived in the USA between 1839 and 1843, since son Henry Charles Wingrove was born in Pennsylvania. 
The first census for the family is in 1850 in Ohio. The family is then found in 1860 in Warsaw, Missouri and again in 1870 in Travis TX, but with a second marriage to Harriet I Thorp. Reuben does not appear in the 1880 census, but the widow and one son is listed in Travis TX. By 1910 Harriet is living with a Thorp nephew.

*The 1870 census shows Harriet and Rueben, with Alice -11, and Franklin - 6, living one dwelling away from Elizabeth Thorp.  Alice is listed as Alice Wingrove but it is not known if she were really adopted from Harriet's previous marriage.
