     APRIL 1, 1963

AN ODE ON LORNA'S RETIREMENT

by Helen & Verna

On the 14,965th morn

This little redhead's job was born

I've worked & toiled every day

A very small sum was my pay

Stashed what I could in my big blue trunk

And opened it up when some one was sunk

The Easter rush was always bad

And when it was over I was really glad

I'd need a rest and away I'd go

I would shuffle off to Buffalo

I looked for a man one who was rich

Never could find him to make a pitch

Summer would come and mothers dropped in

With bratty kids with drool on their chin

I'd need another rest you see

But alas I found trips aren't free

And then the Christmas rush was on

My complaints of Eatons go on and on

As Christmas help I was hired

After 41 years I was really tired

That big red "E" on my forehead showed

And years later it really glowed

In no time at all it will fade away

Because at last I'm at home to stay

I want to tell you I'm no fool

Cause I'm no longer Eaton's tool.
