James William Daugherty, 88 of Box 476 Buena Vista, died yesterday in John J. Kane Hospital, Scott Township. He was a retired employee of McKeesport, Hospital. Born in Masontown on Jan 20,1881*, Mr. Daugherty was the husband of the late Florence Ann Rock Daugherty and is survived by daughters, Mrs. Charlotte Morrison of McDonald, Penna. Mrs. Lena May Savage of Gratztown, Mrs. Genevieve Freyer of Buena Vista, Mrs. Edna Mazie Martinez of Chicago, Ill. and Mrs. Rose Marie Martinez of McKeesport: sons, Charles and Harvey Daugherty of Irwin, Wilford in Washington State and LeRoy of Erie: 49 grandchildren: 50 great grandchildren: and a brother Elmer Ferree of Hazlewood. Mrs. Florence Ann Daugherty 51, died yesterday at her home on the Coursin Hollow Rd., Elizabeth Township, PA She was born on May 1,1895 in Dawson Fayette County, PA the daughter of the late Charles and Charlotte Rimel Rock. Surviving are her husband, James W. Daugherty, five daughters Mrs. Charlotte Morrison, of Gilmore, Washington County, PA., Mrs. Leona (May) Sabage and Mrs. Genevieve Fryer of McKeesport, Edna Mazie and Rose (Marie) at home; four sons. Harvey and Charles, of Elizabeth Township, Wilford Woodrow of Elizabeth and LeRoy at home; 17 grandchildren; two brothers Charles and William Rock of Layton, PA. and three sisters, Mrs. Laura Belle Wells, of Layton Mrs. Viola May (Ollie) Nutt of Perryopolis, PA and Mrs. Hazel Leona Sowden of Mather, Greene Co. Scott of Flint, Mich., Hazel of Glassport, Betty of Glassport, Judy (Richard) DePaul of Pittsburgh, Eugene (Carol) of Derry, Kathy of Mckeesport, Richard (Gladys) of Mckeesport, Janet (Eberito)Frias of Glassport, Patrick of Willard, Ohio and Kenneth (Cheryl) of Leavenworth Kan., 24 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by and infant son Jimmy ;  sisters Katherine Daugherty, Helen Moon, and Jean Ackerman Rodman. Born March 26,1941 in Ford City she was a daughter of Ruth Bowser. She is survived by her mother; husband  Charles A. Daugherty; son Eric Lee Kester of Monroville; a granddaughter; a brother, Dr. O. G. Bowser of Ford City and sisters, Marilyn Bowser of Pittsburgh and Ida Bowser of Culver City, Calif.
Friends will be received tomorrow from 3 to 8 p.m. in the Hunter-Edmundson-Striffle Funeral Home. Service will be conducted in the chapel there at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Youth Loses Life in River
James Daugherty Drowned Near Bunola Today

James Daugherty, 21 of Robbins Station, was reported drowned in the Monongahela River near Bunola shortly after noon today when a skiff on which he was riding capsized. Witnesses said the boat, heavy laden with scrap iron, upset as the drowning victim tugged on the oars near the river bank. He was crossing from Elrama and had almost reached the shore. The victim was fully clothed. His body sand and did not come to the surface. It was recovered two hours later by a group of men and boys who dragged the river bottom. Volunteer firemen and John Ashton and Earl Nicholls of Bunola attempted to revive the man by means of artificial respiration but were unsuccessful.

Daugherty, Wilford W. (Woody) 67, of 3622 Jacob St. Wheeling, died Saturday in Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling West Va. He was a retired employee of the H.B. Reed Company , in Wheeling  and was of Protestant faith.
He is the son of the late James William and Florence A. Rock Daugherty of McKeesport, PA. Surviving are his wife Jauanita Denman Daugherty. Four daughters, Janet Kalkbrenner of Glassport, PA. Margaret Miller of McKeesport, PA. Alberta Harashbrager of McKeesport, PA Leslie Daugherty Pamibia McGarrity, of Turtle Creek, PA Step-daughter, Donna Bland of Ashland, Ohio, brother, Leroy Daugherty of Elizabeth, PA.
Three sisters: Genevieve Freyer of Buena Vista, PA, and Edna Mazie Martinez of Chicago, Ill. and Rose Marie Martinez of Mckeesport,Penna. He leaves behind several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nephews and nieces.

Born in McKeesport, July 14,1926, she was a daughter of the late William and Hallie Humphrey Larson and wife of the late Carmen Chiaverini. She is survived by daughters, Leslie McGarthy of Turtle Creek, Mary Ann Millie of Lincolnville, Kans., and Theresa Gouker of North Versailles, Twp. son, Kenneth J. Chiaverini of McKeesport; 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren and sister, Theresa Berwick of St. Cloud, Fla.

Edna Mazie Daugherty Martinez (Boo), died August 27, 2002 in Chicago Illinois. She is a former McKeesport PA resident she was born July 14,1932. She was the wife of the late Jose Rivera Martinez Sr. and also the daughter of the late James W. and Florence A. Rock Daugherty .

She is survived by daughters Elizabeth Velazques, Semonia Lopez, Martha Lopez, Deborah Lopez all from Chicago,  Josephine of Indiana, Ill. and Victoria of Ark. and a son Jose Rivera Martinez Jr. of McKeesport, PA.

Ronald Martinez
Ronald Ricardo Martinez, infant son of Alcides and Marie Daugherty Martinez of 825 Market Street McKeesport, died early today at McKeesport Hospital . He was born Oct. 29. Survivors, in addition to the parents are a brother, Roberto and grandparents. Mr and Mrs. Antonio Guzman of McKeesport and James W. Daugherty of McKeesport. 
Friends are being received at the Willig Funeral Home, where a blessing service will be conducted at 9 a.m. Wednesday by the Rev. Edmund Rowan. Burial will be in New St. Joseph's Cemetery.

ROBERT J.FREYER

 Robert J. Freyer  56, of North Huntingdon died Friday, March 3, 2006, at home surrounded by his family.  He was born May 23, 1949, in Mckeesport, a son of the late Charles and Genevieve Daugherty Freyer. He was employed as a  machinist for Vista Metals of Little Boston.  He was a veteran of the US Army having served in Vietnam.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Thomas Heveker.  Surviving are his wife, Linda Heveker Freyer: son, Robert J. Freyer at home, daughter, Bethany Nowakowski and her husband, Larry of White Oak, grandson, Zachary  Nowakowski, four brothers, Charles Freyer and his wife Kathryn, of West Mifflin, Edward Freyer and his wife Debbie of Elizabeth, Dale Freyer and his wife Terri, of Elizabeth, and Walter Freyer and his wife Nancy of Virginia three sisters Joyce Scharer of Greensburg, Linda Rothbauer and her husband Ken, Deborah Roma and her husband, Rick of Elizabeth; mother-in-law Josephine Heveker of White Oak, sister-in-law Carol Coccia and her husband Sam of Elizabeth, brother in law Thomas Heveker and his wife, Nancy of North Huntingdon: numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Friends will be received 6 to 8p.m. , Saturday and  2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8P.m. Sunday at the Joseph F., Ott Funeral Home Inc. 504 Oak Street, Irwin ..

A funeral service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Lance Gilbert Chaplin with the Vitas Innovated Hospice Care officiating.  Interment will follow in Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth TWP. The family suggest in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Vitas Hospice, Route 130 Suite 3001, Irwin, 15642; or to the First Presbyterian Church, 617 Main Street, Irwin 15642. John F. Ott assisting the family with arrangements.
