My grandfather Melancthon
Wingrove was born in Hamilton, Ontario
[09 August 1855; Headstone b. 1855 - d. 1937 ]
I have never heard of him being in
Australia, but it is possible. He didn't say much, and I was just 14 when he
died 1937. He married Jane Gormley who was born March 9, 1857 and
died in 1940. Melancthon worked as a millwright in a Seattle lumber and
retired some time before I was born. He then went to work for the City of
Seattle, Washington caring for the city's horses. When the city switched
to trucks he went to work as a custodian for a local Baptist Church. He
walked everywhere. My grandfather built a playhouse for me and my sister,
and I still have a small rocking chair that he made for my dad.
Here is the tabulation of Melancthon's descendants:
My father John Wingrove was born August 21,
1885 in Napa, California. He died in 1951
He was the oldest of 4
children.
They were - Josephine Wingrove,
Winifred Wingrove and
Annabelle Wingrove.
None of my father's
sisters had children.
Annabelle married Harry Bergman.
Jo worked and lived at
home taking care of her mother.
Winifred joined the convent and incidentally created
the only argument I ever heard between my mother and dad. It seemed the family had
to provide a trunk and habits for novice nuns, and in the midst of the depression, that
wasn't easy. My grandparents quarrel over the same incident resulted in my
aunt Jo and grandmother moving out. My grandfather went to their rental unit
every day and carried in coal and took out the ashes.
My mother was an only child, therefore my sister and I did not have any
cousins.
My father married Flora Osman in November 1918.
My sister Jane Elizabeth
Wingrove was born
on March 9, 19xx.
She married Luke Kimes in the late 1940's.
They had 3
children - David Kimes
Susan Kimes and
Peter Kimes
David has 3
children and lives in the Seattle area.
He works for Bill Gates checking out the
electronics in the Gates home.
Susan has 2 girls and her husband works for Microsoft.
Peter has 2 children and lives in Gilbert, Arizona.
My sister Jane died in 1961.
I married Audrey Despain - a week
after being discharged from the Marine Corps - October 5, 1945.
We had 2 children
- a daughter Carol
Wingrove born on
July 8, 19xx, and

Bryan
Wingrove born on September 14, 19xx

My daughter married Dave Keller
on June 11, l9xx.
They have 2 children - a son Joel, born on November 18,
19xx, and
a

for a Master's degree from the same university where I received mine.
