The fourth child of Harmon and Arvilda (Thompson) Willis, and his seventh, Marion Burton is born on April 1, 1896, at their farm, at Valley Mills, West Virginia. He works for Myers Pump Company before becoming a self-employed carpenter.

On March 24, 1921, Marion B. Willis and Della Elizabeth Haines are married at United Brethren Church, at Valley Mills. The parents of three girls and a boy, the oldest is born at Ashland, Ohio, their younger children at the Waverly farm: Maxine Elizabeth, on May 8, 1922; Arleene Helen, on September 8, 1924; Etheleene Ellen, on November 8, 1926; Frank Burton, on May 13, 1928. Born on August 5, 1899, at Waverly, Della is the younger daughter of Franklin P. and Barbara E. (Wingrove) Haines


Maxine E. Willis marries to George W. Rowley on June 24, 1943, the parents of Sharon Maxine, Regina Marie and Roger Burton. He dies on October 18, 1996, her death on November 6, 2002, with interment at Willow Island Cemetery. She spends 19 years with the Bureau of Public Debt. Their son is interred at Middle Ridge Cemetery, his birth, and death, on August 2, 1956.


On October 12, 1945, Arleene Willis is married to Kenneth Watson, by Rev. J. H. Life, a minister of the gospel, at Ogdin Methodist Church, at Waverly. They are the parents of Kenneth Edward and Barbara Ann.


Five months prior to the marriage of her older sister, on May 13, 1945, Rev. J. H. Life marries Etheleene E. Willis to Junior Ray Linch; he is known by his middle name. They are the parents of Lola Jean and Rodney Ray.


On February 11, 1947, Frank B. Willis marries Glenna Tindle, the parents of Rebecca Diane and Brenda. His death on March 11, 2003, at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital, is caused by cardiac arrest, with interment at Willow Island Cemetery.


Marion and Della are interred at Willow Island Cemetery, cancer causing his death on November 25, 1966; her death on July 20, 1984, is caused by acute leukemia, gastro-intestinal bleeding, and carcinoma of the ovaries.


Della's father comes to (West) Virginia in the early 1860s, with his parents, two brothers and sister, and at 17 is working as a farm laborer. Ten years later, Franklin is boarding with six men from Pennsylvania, each a carpenter of bridge construction; they are residing at the home of John and Deucilla Ray, at Shepherdstown, in Jefferson County. On December 24, 1880, Franklin Haines and Barbara Wingrove marry, at Wood County. His birth on February 2, 1853, at Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, he is the second of nine children of Abram and Nancy Agnes Haines, his death on May 9, 1923. Barbara is born on January 14, 1860, at Belmont County, Ohio, fourth of 11 children of William Harrison and Margaret Jane (Boston) Wingrove, her death on February 15, 1947. They are interred at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Cemetery, at Waverly; her parents are also interred here.

Born in Pennsylvania, 52-year-old Abram Haines is working as a stone mason in 1870, in the Union District of Wood County; Nancy is 39-year-old, her middle name recorded in the census. Their children are residing with them: born in Pennsylvania are Wilson, 21, Franklin, 17, John, 16, and 13-year-old Sarah. Abraham is eight years old, born in Virginia, the births of six-year-old Hannah, and four-year-old Agnes A., in West Virginia. The youngest children are Laura, born in 1872, and Muzetta, born in 1874. In 1880, Abram is a farmer, his age recorded as 59, the surname as Hains; all their children, except Wilson, are residing with him and Nancy. Nothing is found of their deaths.

His birth in Ohio, on November 14, 1832, the son of Franklin B. and Deborah (Moore) Wingrove, William H. Wingrove marries Margaret J. Boston on July 11, 1853, at Belmont County; some records indicate he is born in Lewis County, Virginia. In 1870, he is a farmer, at Union District, Wood County, West Virginia, the parents of seven children, born in Ohio: David is 16, and William is 13; Franklin C., 12, and Barbara E. is ten years old; seven-year-old D. Anna, and three-year-old Charles. The younger children, born at Wood County, are Archibald, in 1872; Alvilda, two years later; Ida A., in 1875. William is a carpenter in 1880, the family of his brother, John, eight years younger, residing next his home. Margaret dies on July 18, 1896, at Waverly, his death on August 16, 1921, two years before the death of his son. During the Civil War, William serves as a private, with Company C of the 170th Regiment. His brother, John, serves with Company E, 77th Regiment of the Ohio Volunteer Infantry

OBITUARY
               MAXINE ROWLEY
Maxine Willis Rowley, 80 of Waverly (WV) passed away 6 Nov 2002 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital following  a sudden illness.

She was born 8 May 1922 in Ashland Ohio, a daughter of the late Marion B and Della Haines Willis. Maxine was a 1941 graduate of Williamstown High School and earned a business degree from Marietta College. She retired in 1981 from the Bureau of Debt with 19 years service and attended Pine Grove Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Sullivan of Williamstown and her fianc� Don Reynolds of McConnelsville Ohio and Regina Roush and her husband Michael of Waverly; one granddaughter Mendi Sullivan Gardener and her husband Steve; one grandson Andy Roush and his wife Lisa; one great grandson Brandy Munday, all of Grafton WV; one brother Frank Willis and his wife Glenna of Waverly; two sisters Arleene Watson and her husband Kenny of Waverly and Etheleene Linch and her husband Ray of Vienna; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, George W Rowley, who she married 24 June 1943 and an infant son Roger Rowley in 1956.

OBITUARY
               FRANK B WILLIS
WAVERLY - Frank B Willis, 74 of Waverly (WV) passed away March 11, 2003 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. 
Frank was born in Waverly, a son of the late Marion B and Della Haines Willis. He was a 57 year member of the Carpenters Local Union No. 899 and enjoyed farming.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Glenn L Tindle Willis, two daughters, Becky D Morris and her husband Gig of Waverly and Brenda K Willis of Vienna; three grandchildren Tonya Kellar and her husband Steven of Morgantown WV, Stacy Morris of Williamstown and Jay Morris of Waverly; two great grandchildren Ashley and Cameron; two sisters, Arleen Watson and her husband Kenny of Waverly, and Etheleen Linch and her husband Ray of Vienna and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister Maxine and brother-in-law George Rowley.

The funeral service will be 11 am at Kimes Funeral Home 521 Fifth Street, Parkersburg with Pastor Calvin (Chuck) Ferrell officiating. Burial will follow at the Willow Island Cemetery. Friends may call 2-8 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
