Benjamin Wingrove is of the Irish Wingrove family that arrived from
Ireland to New York State. Some of the family remained in New York,
while the parents and other children left for West Virginia, setting up
the Wingrove Mine near Oak Hill WV. Benjamin was born about 1832- 1838,
depending on the census either in New York or Virginia.
Part of the family moved out west into Kansas and Iowa
