Alexander MacIntyre
Alexander McIntyre
Notes:
based in part on Nassaweyga: History of Campbellville

Alexander MacIntyre was born on the Isle of Islay, Argylshire Scotland. His initial trade well there was as a tailor. Like many emigrant families - the family was split as a result of their choice to leave Scotland.  Alexander arrived in Canada with his mother and possibly some other siblings. One brother was to set out for Australia, and one brother remained in Scotland

Alexander married Jannet McLeod, the widow of Mr McEwen. A strange coincidence both the McEwen and McClouds (McLeod) were all from the same location in Scotland. Jannet McLeod McEwan had arrived in Dundas Canada with her husband and two of his brothers and wives, as well as three children. The three McEwan brothers all died of Cholera . Jannet's first son left to work on the Great Lakes and was never heard of again. John McEwen born in 1827 lived at the MacIntyre home until his death in 1896. Catherine McEwen born 1832 also lived at the MacIntyre  until her death in 1890.

Alexander and Jannet purchased 100 acres of land from the Canada Company Lot 9 Concession 2 West Half of Nassaweyga Township of Halton County. Most of the buildings were placed well back from the road and the property became known as the Cedar Acres Farm.

Alexander and Jannet MacIntyre had 4 children of their own:
Mary MacIntyre who married Henry Stingle and lived in Campbellville
Henry was a widower on marriage to Mary and after her
death moved to California to live with 4 of his 7 children
from the previous marriage with Catherine McMillan

Donald 'Dan' MacIntyre married Agnes Burns and lived on the farm

Janet Jessie McIntyre married Johnathan Wingrove and farmed in East
Flamboro. They had two sons and two daughters

Margaret McIntyre married William Wingrove and also moved to Flamboro
Margaret died during childbirth in 1865. The baby Margaret
was raised by her aunt and uncle Edmund Hirst.
William Wingrove married Charity Hurren (1849-1874)
                              then Elizabeth Cartwright.
