TERI LYNN WINGROVE June 23, 1979 -
April 3, 2001 Bravely, on Tuesday, April 3, 2001, Teri age 21 years,
passed away at the Health Sciences Centre attempting to extend her life
with a living donor lung transplant. Teri is lovingly remembered by her
Mom and Dad, Tom and Linda; her
sister Christy; her great-grandma Lela
Cooper; her grandparents, John and Marion Ermet and Tess
Wingrove. She was predeceased by her grandfather Gordon
Wingrove. Teri is sadly missed by her many aunts, uncles and
cousins; Rita and Barry Inch and cousins, Michelle,
Michael, Robert and Jackie Ermet and cousins, Ryan and Paula;
Ted and Anita Ermet and cousins, Dylan and Bradley;
Great auntie Lil Colpitts and cousins, Jeff, Paulette, Jena,
Riley, Stuart, Cathie, Evan, Graham and Richard. Teri was
blessed to have her loving boyfriend Michael Huard in her life. He
was constantly by her side and supported her through everything. Teri and
Michael enjoyed life together to the fullest travelling, skiing, sledding,
camping, fishing, water-skiing, movies and socializing with their many
friends. Michael and his family are a very special part of Teri's family.
Teri grew up in Charleswood and attended Dieppe Elementary School,
Charleswood Junior High and graduated from St. Mary's Academy in 1997. She
was enrolled in Environmental Sciences at the University of Manitoba until
her health required her to suspend her studies. Having fun and not wasting
any time were very important to Teri. Teri's love of the outdoors started
at an early age. When she was two months old she made her first trip to
the family's cottage at Malachi, Ont. Fishing, swimming, water-skiing and
visiting with her many lake friends was a large part of Teri's life.
Special trips included Expo '86, Jasper, House boating, Clear Lake and her
Wish Trip to Disney World thanks to the Rainbow Society. Teri was aware of
what having Cystic Fibrosis meant at an early age. She chose to be active
in promoting awareness of the disease. She worked with the Children's
Hospital in their annual fundraising campaigns and she spoke frequently to
the Kinsmen and Kinettes on behalf of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Teri
lived her life with a sense of urgency knowing that she faced an uncertain
future, but she never felt sorry for herself. She was always concerned for
others, looking for ways to help. Teri had character and maturity beyond
her years. She leaves an envious legacy of accomplishments from her too
short life. Words could never properly express Teri's thanks to those who
made the living donor lung transplant a possibility. Mike Huard, Ken
and Johanna Skaftfeld, Carol Hepner and especially Dan Hepner
will forever hold a special place in our hearts. The family would like to
acknowledge the care and love Teri received from everyone at Children's
Hospital and the Health Sciences Centre. A special thank you to everyone
on GH6 who cared for her and kept her safe. Our thanks is also extended to
the dedicated individuals of the Cystic Fibrosis Clinic and lung
transplant team, in particular, Dr. Kepron and Dr. Unruh, Tamara Wells
and Anne Szabo. A celebration of Teri's life will take place
Thursday, April 12, 2:00 p.m., at Westworth United Church, 1750 Grosvenor
Ave. Flowers are gratefully declined. Those wishing to honour Teri's
