Richard
Alan Wingrove, 68, of Pomona, California, and formerly of DuPont, Georges
Township, Fayette County, Pa., died Wednesday, February 27, 2002, after an
extended illness in Pomona.
He was
born September 5, 1933, in Uniontown, Pa., son of Howard
Wingrove
and Pearl McClelland Wingrove.
Richard graduated from the former Georges Township High School Class of
1951.
He was Methodist by faith.
Richard was retired from Utility Trailer Inc., Pomona, California, where
he served as Secretary of the United Auto Workers for 30 years. While
serving in this position he traveled extensively to China and made several
trips to Washington, D.C., and met with several of our U.S. Presidents
while representing the UAW.
His son, Scott
Alan Wingrove,
died in 1992. His parents are also deceased.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Amy Marie Groth Wingrove;
daughter and son-in-law, Cindi
and
Clift Howard, Rancho Cucamonga, California; grandson, Jacob
Wingrove LaFleaur, San Diego, California; stepchildren: Susie
Garcia and Bill Sear, Irvine, California, and Barb Riley,
Kansas City, Missouri; brothers and sister-in-law, Paul
and Jo
Wingrove,
Vienna, Ohio; sisters and brothers-in-law: Evelyn
and Roy
Fink,
Poland, Ohio, Lorraine
Murphy,
Uniontown, Pa., and Ruth
and John Sexton, Smithfield, Pa.; several nieces, nephews, aunts
and uncles.
The Family will receive Friends in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134
West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa., on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
p.m. and Wednesday, March 6, until 11 a.m., the hour of Service with Rev.
George W. McLaughlin officiating.
Interment will follow in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Georges Township,
Fayette County, Pa.
