Arlington J Smale

Arlington J. Smale, 80, of RR 2 Kunkletown, died March 24, 2001 in the Hospice Unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown.

He was the husband of Lorraine (Solt) Smale. They had observed their 18th wedding anniversary last October. He was also the husband of the late Ardella (Costenbader) Smale to whom he had been married for 38 years.

He was born in Kresgeville. He had been a foreman at the New Jersey Zinc Co. in Palmerton for 36 years, retiring in 1980. He had also owned and operated the former Green Gables Restaurant in Gilbert for 14 years. He was a WW II Army veteran and a member of St. Matthew's United Church of Christ in Kunkletown. 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Patricia Hopkins of Kunkletown, Kay Frey of Saylorsburg, and Sonya Thompson of Kresgeville; two step-daughters, Mary Wingrove and Joan Sherer of Virginia; two brothers, Vane and Donald Smale, both of Kresgeville; a sister, Virginia George of Palmerton; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Mark David Smale; a daughter, Joan Marie Smale; and by a granddaughter, Jackie Lynn Shafer.
