James Earl Rimel, 77 of Dawson, died Sunday morning Jan 14, 2001, in the Frick Hospital Mount Pleasant. He was born in Dawson Jan 14, 1924, son of the late William and Ida Wingrove Rimel. He was an avid hunter, a member of the Vanderbilt Church of Christ. Prior to his retirement in 1985, James worked for the B&O Railroad. He served the US Air Force during World War II. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Dorothy Boone Rimel, two sons William E Rimel and his wife Beverly of Dawson, James E Rimel and his wife Carol of Adelaide PA; a daughter Debra Rimel Hileman and husband James of Dickerson Run; five grandchildren, Todd Hileman and his wife Christine, Jason Rimel, Rick Rimel, Jody Rimel and his wife Heather, and Stacey Jacobs and her husband Eddie; one great-granddaughter, Payton M Hileman; a sister, Margaret Cable of Dawson, two brothers, Joseph Rimel of Dawson and Herb Rimel of Vanderbilt. He was preceded in death by five brothers, John Christener, William Richard, Ted and David Rimel, five sisters, Ruth Rimel, Annie Rimel Biling, Ellen Rimel Pringle, Jennie Rimel Reynolds and Nellie Rimel Thompson.
Friends will be received in the Ralph E Galley Funeral Home in Dawson, today 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday until 11 a.m. Officiating ministers will be the Rev. Brian Moser and the Rev. John Barchey. Internment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park. Military rites will be conducted in the cemetery by the Milton L Bishop Post 301 of the American Legion and the VFW Post 21 of Connellsville.
