KRAYENHAGEN DIED ON SATURDAY SEPT 28,1935
After a period of three months of suffering from dropsy Mrs. John
Krayenhagen passed away Saturday morning at her home at the age of 67
years 5 months and 13 days. All that loving care could do was done for her
by relatives and friends.
Anna Dierks was born in Lyons Clinton County, Iowa April 15, 1865
where she grew to womanhood. She was the daughter of John and Margaret
Dierks
She was united in marriage to John Krayenhagen
in Lyons Jan 23, 1889. In 1912 the family moved to Crawford County and
settled near Vail where they made their home. Later they moved to DeLoit.
Nine children came to bless this union, eight of whom are living. Those
living are John of Davenport, Chris of Ottumwa, Malinda
Mrs. L. Retman of Denison, Arthur of Ottumwa, Margaret
Mrs. John Segebart of Denison, Ernest and Marvin of
Ida Grove, and August of Denison. There are also twenty-nine
grandchildren, two brothers John and Hans Dierks of Clinton
County. These with the bereaved husband and father and all of her
relatives mourn the passing of this good woman
About three years ago Mrs. Krayenhagen suffered a stroke of paralysis from
which she recovered to the extent she was able to be about. About three
months ago she became afflicted with dropsical trouble which terminated in
her death
She was baptised in the Lutheran faith when a small girl and remained true
to her faith
Funeral services were held from the Bartcher Chapel Tuesday afternoon 2
o`clock with the Rev Parker in charge. The Bartcher ladies quartet
furnished music for the service.
Internment was made in the Oakland Cemetery with her sons acting as
pallbearers as Mrs. Krayenhagen had requested before her death.
Out of town folks who arrived to attend the services were Mr. and Mrs. John
Dierks and son Fred of Clinton, Hans Dierks of Mills, Herman
Peters, Chris Jepsen and grandpa Leroy of Lyons. Mr. and
Mrs. Chris Krayenhagen and son Ronald and Arthur all
of Blackburn. John Krayenhagen Jr. of Dixon, also Mr. and Mrs. Marvin
Krayenhagen and children, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Krayenhagen of
Ida Grove. Others were Mr. and Mrs. John Segebart and children of
Deloit, Mr and Mrs. August Krayenhagen and Mr. and Mrs Louis
Retman and daughters Lillian, Etta, Selma
and Edna of near Denison

Krayenhagen Obituary
John Krayenhagen son of Christian and Anna (nee
Emke) Krayenhagen,
born in Kiel Holstein, Germany on June 2, 1865, and passed away on April
27, 1955, at the age of 89 years 9 months and 25 days.
At the age of 17, he came to this country and settled in Clinton, Iowa. In
1912 he came to a farm in Crawford county and has since resided in this
area.
In 1888, he was married at Clinton to Anna Dierks
who passed away in 1935. To this union nine children were born, three of
the sons, John, Chris, and Alvin preceded in death,
Survivors are six children, Arthur, Ida Grove; Ernest, Ida
Grove; Marvin, Battle Creek; August, Holstein; Malinda,
Mrs. Louie Retman, of
Denison; and Margaret, Mrs. John Segebart of Ida Grove
Also surviving are 35 grand children and 38 great grand children. Three
sisters and two brothers preceded him in death. Krayenhagen was baptized
in Germany in the Lutheran faith.
Funeral services for the deceased were held Saturday, April 30, 1955, with
Rev Gerald Rosenberg officiating and burial being made in the
Oakland cemetery. Pallbearers were Earl Krayenhagen, Donald
Krayenhagen, Kenneth Krayenhagen, Marlin Krayenhagen, Robert Segebart,
and Ray Reetz

Malinda Krayenhagen was born June 2, 1894 and she
passed away April 7,1977 at the age of 83. Her parents were John and
Anna (Dierks) Krayenhagen and her grandfather's name was Chris
Krayenhagen. She had 7 brothers John, Chris, Arthur ( My grandpa),
Ernest, Marvin, August, And Alvin who died in infancy. She had a sister
Margaret.
