Jack H. Brown, 59, of Acme, died Friday, Oct. 15, 1993, at the Sumner Community Hospital, Sumner, Iowa. He was born April 3, 1934, in Acme, a son of Alverta Wingrove Brown of Acme and the late Earl D. Brown, who died in 1978. He was the retired owner and operator of the Brown Timber and Land Co., of Acme. He was a member and former board member of the Hardwood Lumber Manufacturers Association of Pennsylvania. He was an avid hunter, belonging to the South Dakota Wildlife Federation and several local hunting organizations. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his wife, Arlene E. Freed Brown, Jan. 8, 1993; a sister, Audrey Brown; and two brothers, Dale and Dean Brown. He is survived by two sons, Robert Brown and Neil Brown, both of Acme; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Kimberly) Hostetler of Acme; six grandchildren; two brothers, Zane and Thomas Brown, both of Acme; and two sisters, Mrs. Gilbert (Geneva) Brown of Armbrust and Sally Brown of Ligonier.

 Friends will be received at the CLYDE BROOKS FUNERAL HOME, Route 711, Melcroft, Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from noon to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Russell Dunaway officiating. Interment will follow in Brown Cemetery, County Line Road.
