Williamsport Home.
Lelia Dorothy Wingrove, 100, of 1900 Ravine Road, died Wednesday, November
16, 2005 at the Williamsport Home.
She was born September 29, 1905 in Williamsport, the daughter of Amandus
N. and Jennie A. Stahlnecker Bloom. She resided in Williamsport until
1951, when she moved to Flager Beach, Fla. with her husband, Harmon
Wingrove, whom she married June 16, 1949. The were married
until his death in 1976.
She was a 1924 Williamsport High School graduate. Lelia worked at
Williamsport Narrow Fabric in the 1930’s and 1940’s. Lelia was a
member of the New Covenant United Church of Christ.
She was the owner and operator of a hardware store in Florida and retired
at the age of 80. She returned to Williamsport in 1995 from Indialantic,
Fla.
Lelia is survived by a brother, Paul Bloom of Williamsport; a
stepdaughter, Marie Fitzsimmons of Birdsboro; nieces, Dolores
Parisi, Patricia Mitsdarfer and Susan Twigg; and nephews, Harlan
Byers, Wayne Miller and Kenneth Bloom; great nieces and nephews and
great great nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Harlan
Bloom; a stepdaughter, Patricia Andy; and three sisters,
Jeanette Byers, Eleanor Miller and Dorothy Bloom.
A celebration of Lelia’s life will begin with a visitation on Saturday
from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Maneval Funeral Home, Ltd. “A Life
Celebration Home,” 500 W. Fourth St., Williamsport. Services will follow
at 10:30 a.m. with her Pastor, Rev. Clara A. Benson,
officiating. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Covenant
United Church of Christ, 202 East Third Street, Williamsport, Pa. 17701.
