Joe Dell Ayres

IOWA PARK - Joe Dell Ayres, 78, a lifetime resident of Holliday, died Monday, March 8, 2004, in Wichita Falls. 

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at First Baptist Church, Holliday, with the Rev. Daryl Sewell, pastor of First Baptist Church, Holliday, officiating. Burial will be in Holliday Cemetery under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home. 

Mr. Ayres was born Sept. 5, 1925, in Archer County, Texas. He married Irene Wingrove on May 21, 1948, in Wichita Falls. He served in the Army during World War II and was a member of First Baptist Church, Holliday. He was also a member of the American National Cutting Horse Association and the American Quarter Horse Association. He was a self-employed owner/operator. 

Survivors include his wife, Irene (Wingrove) Ayres of Holliday; a daughter, Linda Ayres of Plano, Texas; three brothers, John Dillard Ayres of Elmore City, Okla., C.D. Chick Ayres and Jack Ayres, both of Holliday; a daughter-in-law, Kim Ayres of Wynnewood, Okla.; one grandson, John David Ayres of Wynnewood, Okla.; and one granddaughter, Sierra Joe Ayres of Wynnewood, Okla. 

He was preceded in death by his father, John Ayres; his mother, Susie (Dill) Ayres; a son, Mike Ayres; a sister, Melba Thompson; and a brother, Jerry Ayres. 

Memorials may be made to the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering, First Baptist Church, Holliday, TX 76366, or to the First Baptist Church building fund, Wynnewood, Okla.
