Harry F. Gowatski, 85, of Mt. Pleasant RD2 (Bullskin Township), went home to be with the Lord early Sunday
morning, Jan. 20, 2002, in Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. Harry was born in Crossroads (Bullskin Township), Oct. 6, 1916, a son of the late
Stinnif and Goldie Jane (Wingrove)
Gowatski. Harry was a devoted father and grandfather. He was a retired mechanical maintenance man with Lenox Crystal, Mt. Pleasant, for 24 years, retiring
in 1982. He was previously employed through the years with Kendi Enterprises, Earl Christner Construction and Cook Lumber. He served as general contractor during the construction of the First Assembly of God Church in
Scottdale. A longtime and dedicated member of that church, Harry was also a member of the Adult Sunday
School Class. In later years, he enjoyed working outdoors and taking care of the landscaping needs of his property in Bullskin Township. Harry is survived by his loving family: two sons,
Henry Gowatski and wife, Minnie (Hawk), of Smithton, and Harvey Gowatski and wife Carol (Keefer), of Wooddale; two daughters,
Bertha Nelis of Mt. Pleasant and friend, William Orange, and
Janet Sechrist and husband, Thomas, of Connellsville; a daughter-in-law,
Joellen (Armel) Gowatski of Scottdale; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a
great-great-grandson; a sister, Nellie Palkovic of Swedetown; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his loving wife,
Tillie M. (Brown) Gowatski, on Aug. 15, 1995; a son, Clarence
'Rusty' Gowatski, on Nov. 17, 1996; a grandson, Vernon Clyde
Gowatski, on Sept. 15, 1959; a brother, Lloyd Gowatski; a sister,
Bessie McConnell; and five infant siblings.
Family and friends will be received at the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 Spring St., Scottdale, 724-887-5300, Monday from 7
to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from noon to 9 p.m. Additional viewing Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the First
Assembly of God Church, Scottdale, where service will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor
Daniel Cluck officiating. A graveside committal service and interment will follow in
Green Ridge Memorial Park, Bullskin Township, beside his late wife.
