My mother is Geraldine Wingrove Dillon, daughter of Harry Edward Wingrove, son of John Bell Wingrove. The story passed down to my grandfather is that - John William Wingrove was an influential land owner in England. (The parcel of land he owned is loosely described in my mother's papers.) There was a boundary dispute which John Wingrove refused to accept. He was given the choice of a jail sentence or  banishment to the colonies, he chose the colonies.
Has anyone else heard this story? Betty Kelly

Nancy WINGROVE Sex: F
Event(s): Birth: Abt. 1799 Lewis, Virginia
Parents: Father:  John WINGROVE Mother: Elizabeth LUNN
Source Information: from IGI
This would indicate John Wingrove and Elizabeth LUNN had left LOUDOUN COUNTY for LEWIS COUNTY before John and Nancy were born. and JOHN son of John married CATHERINE WAGNER and they had a son in 1835, Anthony. in PA.
John the elder would have had to "return" to LOUDOUN to marry Maria HULDFISH in 1810, which is well documented. As is application for Pension at DAR in DC.
