ALLISON FAMILY CONNECTION WITH WINGROVE FAMILIES
John Allison and his wife Jane Parker and his brother George Allison came from Yorkshire England to settle in the Moffat area of Ontario Canada
John initially purchase the east half of the lot from the Canada Company in 1836. The adjoining land on lot 14 Concession 2 East was purchased in 1853. A quarter acre section of the east half of lot 1 was subdivided and sold to the Board Trustees for No 3 School. The remaining acreage was sold to his son Parker Allison. In 1875 the farm on Lot 14 was sold to Joseph Moore.
Parker Allison married Maria Wingrove. The union saw the birth of 4 children. 1 daughter died as an infant and 3 sons. For each son, the couple were to purchase a farm in the area:John Allison and Jenny Storey along with their daughters Anna Allison and Florence Allision lived on Lot 15 Concession 4 West
Thomas Allison and Jennie Moore lived on the Guelph line on Lot 15 Concession 3
Joshua Parker Allison and Laura Mount [ d/o of Huldah Wingrove and Alpheus Mount] and with their two sons Edwin and Harold Allison lived on the farm on Lot 15 Concession 2.
Joshua eventually took over the Post Office that his father has established in the area. Joshua was also the operator of the Massey Harris Farm Implements Agency for the Moffat area.Descendants of John Allison
