I came to the Web in March of 1998 and was
amazed at the amount of information that could be accessed
from the comfort of home. After some exploration it became
evident that many more WINGROVE families existed than the root
source of my Canadian Wingroves.
This site is dedicated to the WINGROVE
families of the Wide World and has
three functions as I presently see the mandate.
serve as a clearinghouse for all things Wingrove
provide a source of information of the

WINGROVE surname from genealogy to

geographical and Wingrove accomplishments

and perhaps but highly unlikely, even failures.
to assist individuals in developing both a

Wingrove family tree and understanding of the

methods for collecting & publishing this heritage.
The site has continued to grow thanks to contributions
from many people over the years. Their submissions and work
have helped in providing a more accurate vision of the
Wingrove and Wingrave history.
Some submitter have elected to be included in a list
of researcher based on geographical area.
The explosive growth of this site has meant that the organization of the
web site has evolved as well. It is becoming more difficult to
locate information and there does not seem to be an easy way
to slot information into categories. The site search engine
and the Table of Contents are likely the two best choices in
your attempts to locate the information you require.

GEDCOM DATABASE
This
very important part of Wingrove World Wide™, is maintained in a
separate database, off site, and the information in the database is
not covered by the Site Search feature above. This perhaps is the primary reason for your
visit, to find out if your surname exists or if an individual Wingrove is here. This is a
database containing all that has been collected on individual Wingroves and their spouses.
This is in a GEDCOM format and can be searched as part of Rootsweb's
World Connect Project.
To locate information in the Database there is a separate search.
Use this form below to do a search.

Work has been started to set up pages dealing with the first Wingrove
families in particular geographical area;

These pages also include reference pages,
submissions for the geographical area.
In addition to a listing of queries
sent in by visitors, various county pages also provide some idea as to what
information is available, at this site and others. A query is a good way to get your
name and research listed. Wingrove World Wide is found on many popular search engines.

An important way of sorting out family relationship is to study Census
returns.
Available census data on Wingrove families has been posted and is added to
as new sources are found. Includes UK, Canada & USA.
Various Wingrove individuals have been involved in conflicts and wars within
their nation and beyond. Some records give clues to their identities, ages, birth places.
More and more cemeteries are being recorded
and placed on line primarily for Canada and the USA.

Most of the obituaries that have been submitted or found on the internet
have been put on their own page. These can be found through a site search on
an individual name. Quite often the identity or relationship to others in
the database is not clear.

For over a half a century I've carried the WINGROVE
name. As I grew up I knew very few people with a WINGROVE name- albeit my family and my
uncle's family. This is partly due to the fact that my paternal grandfather died at a very
early age and contact with other Wingroves only came during those rare Wingrove Family
reunions in Walsingham Township Ontario, Canada. It's funny that I never really considered
this to be a meeting of the Wingroves but simply as a really big picnic.
Many visitors have also expressed a similar feeling that their
Wingrove family was the only one around. That idea quickly
disappears as you start an exploration of
Some twenty years ago I started on a search for the Wingrove surname. This met with early
success for most of the data all linked back to a single family of Wingroves that left the
Parish of St. Ledgers, Ashby Northamptonshire, England. The origins
of the family has been called into question however as many in the
family had been baptized in neighboring Moulton. They had left England in the
1830's to settle in Ontario. The families married and moved around Ontario, eventually
being found all over Canada, the USA and Australia. All of this data and much more
is contained within the WINGROVE WORLD WIDE Database [link
] and that should
be your primary source of GEDCOM information.
