WINGROVE HISTORY > USA >
The geographical proximity of Ontario and Michigan allowed for Wingrove families to move from area to another. There is evidence of both Irish and English Wingrove families passing through the province of Ontario to settle within the USA and the state of Michigan particularly Iosco County
ENGLISH ROOTS
One family has been documented by Yvone Shultiz in connection with her research on the Hunt Family in North America. Mary Hunt of Wiltshire England married Thomas Wingrove born St Ledgers and spent several years in Ontario with his Wingrove brothers and uncles before packing up the family and moving into the remote area of Alpena Michigan. Many of the Hunt family also made the trek to Michigan as well
IRISH ROOTS
JOHN WINGROVE was born in Ireland. He married his wife who was born in Vermont, possibly a United Empire Loyalist family. One son WILLIAM DANIEL WINGROVE, was born September 1837, in Ontario Canada. William Daniel Wingrove died 15 October 1902, Tawas City Cemetery MI USA. Additional lineage is contained in John Wingrove Descendants from Ireland to Canada and the USA
