GEORGE WINGROVE DIES IN OGDEN, UTAH

George Wingrove, a former well-known resident of Alpena, died in Ogden, Utah, January 6, 1922. Mr. Wingrove was employed for a number of years by the U.S. Steel Navigation Co. as a fireman. He was born in oPrt [Port*] Sarnia, Ontario, May 2, 1878. While in Alpena he made his home at the residence of his aunt, Mrs. Rose Manning, 315 Campbell street.

WEBMASTER: The name Port Sarnia was officially changed to "The Town of Sarnia" effective January 1, 1857. The population of the Town was mentioned in the Act at upwards of 1,000 inhabitants and therewere three wards.

Mr. Wingrove left Alpena December 1919, going directly to Ogden, Utah, in an effort to regain his health. He made a patient, heroic fight during long years of suffering. While in Ogden, he resided with Mr. and Mrs. Femonds [Fernando] Ellsworth, 1444 24th street.

Besides his many Alpena relatives, he leaves others in Tilsonbury
[Tillsonburg], Canada, Detroit and Saginaw Michigan and Ogden, Utah. A daughter, Miss Fern Wingrove, lives at San Piedro [probably San Diego], California.
Rev. Hugh Neville of the M.E. church conducted the funeral. He rests in Mountain View cemetery at Ogden.
