I am looking for anybody
who could help me find Derek E. Wingrove who posted his family
tree on this site back in 2002. I think my Great Grandfather and his Great
Grandfather may have been brothers which could save me a lot of work. Also
looking to see if anybody from that family line are still around.

I have for some time, been researching and recording the history 160th Brigade Royal Field Artillery,
its officers and men who served during the Great War of 1914~18.
This research has included collating a complete list of the Brigade officers and details of their service. Within this list is recorded a
Lt G. C. Wingrove,160th Wearside Brigade RFA,
unfortunately I have been unable to locate any other details about his officer. [I did however find a mention in the ‘Old Dunelmians’ roll call book of 1919 of a
G C Wingrove which could be the same man]
Do you by any chance have within you records any reference to this gentleman? I am hoping to include within my research, information on as many officers as possible to build up a complete history.

I have come across 2 water colour
paintings c. 1920 by a Miss E. Wingrove.
The subjects are Bluebell Wood and The Garden at Norfolk House.
Now there are 2 places of these names located near to Burnham,
Buckinghamshire, and where there certainly were Wingroves at that time. I can
find no information on her, and wondered if anyone knew of a painter in their
Wingrove family?

Looking for the marriage of William Wingrove to
Maria (probably Hallifax)
William was born 1768 in Penn, Bucks, England.
Widowed in 1805.
1841 Census - shown with wife Maria (not born Bucks) at Penn , with Charlotte Hallifax also with them.
Charlotte Hallifax was born 1822 in Margate, Kent - illegitimate. So Maria Hallifax
was in Margate in 1822, born 1784 in Hurley, Berkshire.
By 1834 she is witness at marriage of William's son Stephen
Wingrove in Penn, signs as Maria Wingrove.
But, no trace of marriage in Bucks marriage database, Great Marlow, Hurley, & other neighbouring Berkshire parishes.
I have to presume they did marry, he was a church warden, so one would think that they did!
Any help to trace this marriage much appreciated.

of Wooburn Green, Bucks
I am descended from - John WINGROVE m.
Mary DELL 1 October 1789 in Wooburn Green, Bucks.
I am distantly related to Tom Wingrove
who wrote "The
Papermaking Wingroves 1650-1999" as we are both descended
from John Wingrove above - his ancestor, Richard
Wingrove, born 25 May 1793 was a brother of my ancestor, William
Wingrove, c. 26 June 1791.
Susan Miller is also distantly related as she is descended from the
first marriage of William Wingrove above
to Mary FRANKLIN and I am descended from his second marriage to
Cornelia GALBREATH.
This second marriage is the problem I am seeking help with as I have
been unable to find it! Cornelia was the daughter of a David and
Cornelia Galbreath, both of whom were deceased by the time she married
c. 1830, aged about 30. She was born in Highbury Terrace, Islington,
London but I do not know where she lived after the death of her
parents. Her 3 sons are listed in the 1851 Census as being born in
Wooburn Green.
Both Wingroves and Galbreaths were Non-conformists.
By 1838 the family were living in Camden Town, London, where William
Wingrove was working for the London and Birmingham railway as a
carpenter.
Any ideas gratefully received.
