MRS. MATILDA EYLAR, 82, OF DENTON NEIGHBORHOOD DIES
Mrs. Matilda Eylar, 82, died early Saturday morning at her son's farm about 15 miles northwest of Atchison. Mrs. Eylar had been in poor health for the last two years and became very ill two weeks ago. She died peacefully.
Mrs. Eylar, whose maiden name was Miss Matilda Horner, was born near Winchester, Ohio, in 1845 [1846], and was married there to A.R. Eylar. They came to this part of the country in 1873. Mr. Eylar died in 1917.
Surviving relatives are two sons, Roy and Calvin [Alfred Lewis and Calvin LeRoy], who live northwest of town. One daughter, Mrs. John Weik, died about six years ago. Mrs. Eylar is also survived by three brothers, John, Lute and Calvin Horner, and a sister, Mrs. Laura Lanter, all of Ohio. There are eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. from the Methodist church at Denton. Burial will be in the Denton cemetery. Sawin-Douglass will have charge of the funeral.

Eylar
Matilda Horner Eylar, daughter of Ephriam and Drusilla Jane Horner was born near Winchester, Ohio, February 28, 1846 and died Saturday, December 3, 1927 at her home ten miles southwest of Bendena, Kansas, aged 81 years, 9 months and 5 days. At an early age she united with the Presbyterian church and being a good singer took great pleasure in singing hymns.
December 17, 187[?], she was united in marriage to Aaron Randolph Eylar generally known as "Lusey" ["Coozie"] Eylar, at her father's home at Winchester, Ohio and in 1873 they came to Kansas. To this union were born three children Calvin LeRoy who lives north of Atchison; Lida, Mrs. John Weise [Weik], who died July 9, 1927 [1921] and Alfred Lewis, with whom she made her home. Mr. Eylar died July 31, 1917. Mrs. Eylar is also survived by eight grandchildren, three brothers and one sister and leaves a host of friends to mourn her loss. Funeral services were Monday, December 5, 1927 at 2 p.m., from the Methodist church at Denton, conducted by Rev. Whittlesey the pastor. Interment was in Denton cemetery by her husband's side. The large number at her funeral attest the esteem and love held for this worthy woman.
