Tunk. Rep. & New Age Newspaper: Jan. 30, 1930 Mr. Riley Wilsey died at his home in Johnson City, NY., Tuesday night after an illness of 5 weeks. The deceased was a native of this vicinity, living for many years on the Wilsey homestead near White's Ferry. He was a respected citizen, a quiet, unassuming man who belonged to the class whose life and industry make for the stability of our country. The funeral service was conducted at the Tunkhannock Baptist church by Rev. Murphy, pastor of the First Baptist church of Johnson City, assisted by Rev. E.A. Benson. Burial at the cemetery at LaGrange.

Jacob was a farmer, lumber dealer, school director. He met tragic death when he got into a fight with his dog. The dog got him down and his wife went to hit the dog with an ax and cut him in the calf of left leg but it was a question whether he bled to death or died from over exertion as he was troubled with his heart.

Jacob WILSEY, 62, farmer, of Tunkhannock Twp., died last Saturday morning from loss of blood form a wound inflicted with an axe in the calf of his leg. He was owner of a very savage dog and while at the barn Saturday the dog attacked him and threw him to the ground, tearing his hands and arms in a terrible manner. He caught the dog and called to his wife for help and to get the axe and hit the animal over the nose which she did. But this did not loosen the dog's hold and he told her to hit the dog over the back, which she did not want to do, however she she struck the dog and axe was descending for a second blow when instead of lying still, he threw his leg up in such a manner that the axe blade entered the calf of his leg cutting to the bone and severing an artery. Mrs. Wilsey's cries were heard by neighbors who hastened to the scene, but to late to give assistance. The dog was later found under the house and shot. Funeral on Monday from Brookside School house, interment Jackson Cemetery, near LaGrange.

Hannah Shaffer or Shiffer [Parents] was born in 1844. She died on 20 Oct 1895 in Tunkhannock, Wyoming County, , Pennsylvania. She was buried in Oct 1895 in Jackson Cem., La Grange/Falls, Wyoming County, , Pennsylvania. She married Jacob Willsey or Wilsey in 1864.

"Democrat" 18 Oct. 1895 - Hannah, wife of Jacob Wilsey, of the township, died at her home on Sunday after a short illness of congestion of the lungs. Mrs. Wilsey was a daughter of the late John Shiffer, also of the township, and was a strong, healthy looking woman until the illness which resulted in her death. The funeral took place on Tuesday with interment in the Jackson Cemetery.

Day of funeral hypostoes showed on lower side of neck and back of ears. Ears were pink. Could not remove much blood until all fluid was injected. (16 y 7 m 24 d)
