![]() Manufactured at Janesville, Wisconsin General Motors plant in June, 1946. Purchased by original owner Robert Ballantyne of Portal, North Dakota on August 6, 1946. He last licensed the truck for highway driving to his farm ½ mile from town in 1978. From then until the truck was sold from Mr. Ballantyne's estate in 1994 the truck was only used to drive to farm fields. There were 23,000 miles on the odometer when the present owners totally restored the truck and became only the second owners to have the truck licensed for highway use in Ontario in 1997.

- The body, bumpers, grill, spare tire carrier and drive train were as original and in excellent condition
- body off, frame up restoration
- bolts and parts removed and restored to original specifications or replaced with new parts
- old paint removed and metal sanded, primed and repainted by licensed autobody specialist using Du Pont primers and paint - Export Blue was original color offered for 1946 ½ ton trucks; bumpers and grill removed and re-chromed
- motor completely rebuilt, all glass replaced, floor boards replaced with cherry wood.
- tires removed, rims sand blasted and painted before new tires installed
- brakes completely rebuilt - new lines, cylinders, linings, cables, double acting master cylinder installed
- lights and wiring replaced except where original wire was in good condition
- restoration took 20 months from the date of purchase until the truck passed certification for licensing in 1997
