The Williscroft Families

of Colton, Staffordshire, England

Colton is situated about two miles north east of Rugeley in Staffordshire on the banks of the River Trent. The Williscroft family has been associated with the village since the early 1700's when Thomas Wolliscroft, a farmer, married Sarah Knowles at the parish church in 1734. This is the first reference to the surname or one of its variants in the parish records for the village.
