UPDATE November 2004
He [Jim McGee]
has been working on the project and has had adults and scouts helping
him. Got final approval from the District Advancement Chairman on October
3 and the work got underway. I haven't been to the cemetery but
understand significant progress has been made. Last weekend Tony Szwed
met with Jim at the site and promised to use his equipment to "brush
hog" the exterior perimeter along the stone wall. Also will give
additional assistance. [Ray Vanden Burghe, Ass’t Scout Master]
UPDATE February 2005
Hello
Richard Update news on the Eagle
Project.
Jim has finished all the physical aspects
of the project and tonight I expect him to present a written summary
as a part of His Eagle Scout Project.
He has prepared a booklet for the Hunterdon Historical Society, which he
delivered to them last week.
I
have some photographs that I would like to send to you. However, in checking through my files, I
don't have your
home address. Only Tucson, AZ. Would you be so kind as to send me your
address.
Also, once Jim has completed his "Eagle Board of Review" and
approval to award the Eagle Badge,
I will send you a complete copy of his
application together with all accompanying material, including the
booklet prepared for the Historical
Society.
Total expenditures at Sergeantsville Feed and Grain - $12.00.
In April, Scouts from the Troop will follow up
at the cemetery and apply "Roundup" and then plant a ground cover
(perriwinkle/myrtle). Expect the ground cover to be donated. Will purchase "Roundup" from S F
& G out of the account.
Jim, Scouts and Adults did a really great job and I think you will be
pleased. Expect the troop to adopt a
maintenance program to prevent the
cemetery from becoming overgrown again.
Will keep in touch regarding Eagle Board of Review and Eagle Court of
Honor.
Best
Regards Ray
PS Also would like your phone
number. Thanks Ray
