How
many pillars the Mt. Olive Church had in the old days is a moot question. If there was ever only one, Uncle Bart was
it. Reference to an old ledger kept by
his father, Captain Isaac, tells the story:
Entry:
"Deed for Mt. Olive Church property made Feb. 8, 1870 by Bartimus Williams
and his wife; Emily A. Williams, William N. Hinshaw. Arthur D. Hastings, Lewis
Sr. Williams, and Bartimus Williams and their successors as trustees to hold
for the purposes of a church." The
church was built in 1871.
