Death 1882, Conrad Wentz, Cawker City Journal December 7, 1882
"Conrad Wentz, died at his residence on Granite Creek, three miles east of Cawker City, Nov. 28, 1882, aged 63 years, five months and 24 days. He leaves a wife and eleven children, five of the children are at home with the mother in needy circumstances. He came from Reinpfalz, Bayern, Germany to Pennsylvania in 1848 where he was married to Charlotte Mader, Jan 1, 1850. He located at this place with the rest of the Pennsylvania colony Oct. 15, 1870. He was greatly afflicted for many years with gravel, and was once operated upon by Dr. D. C. Everson and two other physicians. He was a Presbyterian. This last sickness, with a complication of diseases creating intense suffering, he bore with christian fortitude and submission. One of simple, earnest faith has gone to rest. May the blessing of God rest upon the bereaved family."

"Mrs Scharlottie Wentz: Died, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Wm Little in Glen Elder, on Saturday June 28, Mrs Scharlottie Wentz, aged 69 years, 9 months, and 20 days. Mrs. Wentz was born in Germany, Sept. 8, 1832 and came to the United States in 1836 locating in Pennsylvania. In 1870 she moved to Kansas and afterward to Oklahoma and Wisconsin, coming back to Mitchell county Kansas in 1898. The funeral services were conducted at the house by Rev. Helmick, of the M. E. church and the remains laid to rest in the Granite Creek cemetery. She leaves nine children to mourn her departure, 4 of whom live in Kansas, three in Nebraska and two in Wisconsin. The bereaved family have the sympathy of this community in the loss of their aged mother."

Mrs. George Ailers Dies. Salina Woman Succumbs To Heart Failure.
Mrs. Millie Myrtle Ailers, 53, a Saline county resident for 21 years, died at her home on route three at 4:10 o'clock Monday afternoon from heart failure. The body was taken to the Ryan-Sullivan Mortuary where funeral services will be held at 10:30 o'clock Thursday morning with Adjutant Marion Cohn officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Ailers, wife of George W. Ailers, was born September 6, 1885, at Mulberry, KS. Surviving is the husband, their sons and daughters, Goldie Ailers, Bobbie Ailers and William Ailers, all of Salina; Mrs. Sylvia Searls, Junction City, and Mrs. Elmeda Hood, Salina. One brother, Fred St. Clair, lives in California.

Death from heart trouble came to George William Ailers, 59, Sunday morning at his home on rural route three. The body was taken to the Ryan-Sullivan Mortuary where funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock with Rev. F. W. Prather n charge. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery.
Born February 4, 1882 at Osborne, he was a laborer and had lived in Salina 22 years. Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Rhoder(Roeder), Denver, Colorado, and five children living in Salina, Junction City, and Lindsborg. Three sisters, Mrs. Carrie Anderson, Denver, Colorado, Mrs. F.(Fred) O. St. Clair, California, and Mrs. James Anderson, Washington State, also remain.

Funeral services were held yesterday for Joseph Ellsworth Anderson, 140 S. Cherokee St., Colorado resident for 36 years, who died Monday in Denver General Hospital following a brief illness. He was 75.
Mr. Anderson was born in 1868 in Holy County, MO. Following his marriage to Miss Carrie Bliss in 1907, they moved to Seibert, Colorado. Mr. Anderson farmed near Seibert until 1941, when he came to Denver.
Surviving are his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Walter Eastin, Mrs. Rosalie Arthur of Denver, Mrs. Ethel Jammaka of Yakima, WA, and Mrs. Edna Haynes of Lucas, KS; six sons, Byron O. of the army, Theodore J. and Roy Anderson of Denver, Ralph W. of marines, Harry of Westcliffe, CO and Lester K. Anderson of the navy; 36 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Cecilia Wentz, 79, 830 Atchison, died Friday evening at her home. She had been in failing health, but her death was unexpected. She apparently suffered a heart attack.
She was born June 9, 1881 at Burr Oak. She and John. C. Wentz were married September 17, 1889, at Cawker City. They moved to Atchison from Downs in 1943, when he retired from working with the Missour Pacific railroad. Mrs. Wentz leaves her husband of the home and nine children.
The children are Mrs. Paul (Mable) Maycroft, Mrs. Charles (Ethel) Hunt, Mrs. Hume (Dora) Buchanan, Ralph Wentz, Mrs. Joeseph (Margaret) Thummel, and Mrs. Malcolm (Cora) Henley, all of Atchison, George Wentz of Kansas City, MO, Mrs. Clyde (Mary. A>) Lair, Portland, OR, and Mrs. Willis (Ida) Wadham, Chula Vista, CA.
She also leaves a brother, Albert Tylee, Menomonie, Wisconsin, a sister, Mrs. Rosa Moore, Glen Elder, 29 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, a son died in infancy.

Mr. Wentz was born March 20, 1875 at Glen Elder. He worked many years for the Missouri Pacific and moved to Atchison after he retired in 1943. He and the former Cecilia Tylee were married September 17, 1898, at Cawker City. She died January 20 of this year. Mr. Wentz was a member of the Atchison First Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Colleman Mortuary Chapel for Mrs. Rebecca A. Rivera, 92, of 10831 Graves Ave., who died Saturday in a Fullerton convalescent hospital.
Mrs. Rivera was a native of Glen Elder, Kan., and resided in California 57 years. She had been a resident of La Habra six years, coming here from San Gabriel Valley.

Robert A. Brown, 75, resident of Skagit County for the past 35 years, died Sunday evening in a Sedro-Woolley Hospital. Funeral Services will be held today (Thursday) at 2 p.m. from the Hulbush Funeral Home with interment to follow in the Bow Cemetery, Bow, Skagit County, Washington.
Mr. Brown was born February 9, 1888, Kingston, Kansas, and came to Washington in 1928. He had farmed for many years in the Bow and Alger areas. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Lottie Jenkins, Seattle, Mrs. Loretta Tompson and Mrs. Lorene Walker, both of Oregon, Mrs. Bonita Gillen Seattle, and Mrs. Juanita Bonds, Burlington; two sons, Ray of Burlington and Edward of Conway. Also surviving is one half-sister, Mrs. Mabel Dudey, Nebraska; 16 grandchildren; and one great grand-child.

Robert Wentz's birthplace of Wakarusa, Shawnee County, KS, formerly known as Kingston, Shawnee County, KS, was located in the township of Williamsport and the Wakarusa River, a depot along the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe R. R. Kingston, established in 1858, was located a few miles south of Topeka, KS, and served as a farm shipping point for the area.

She was born March 13, 1918 in Salina, Kansas. She came to this locality in 1950 from Vancouver, WA and was employed 1 1/2 years at Coeur d' Alene Homes as a nurse's aid.
Survivors include her husband, Robert J. at home. They were married Dec 15, 1951 at Coeur d' Alene. She was amember of the Eagles Auxiliary in Junction City. A retired Civil Service employee, she was former secretary to the U. S. Army quartermaster at Ft. Riley, Kansas.

Dick Conrad Cornelius, 73, 691 E. 200 N.,Provo, died Feb 23, 1976, at Utah Valley Hospital, of heart failure.
He was born June 5, 1902, in Hastings, NE, a son of Meent and Carrie Cornelius. He married Margaret Fox in 1921, and they were later divorced. He married Ellie Davis on February 14, 1942 in Provo.
Mr. Cornelius was a steward of the Provo BPO Elks Lodge 849.
Mr. Cornelius received his education in NE schools, and lived in Hastings where he was employed in the manufacturing of tents and awnings. He moved to Reno, NV in 1940 and to Provo in 1941.
Mr. Cornelius operated a canvas shope and worked at Geneva Steel during its construction. For 2o years he was a steward at the Elks Lodge, and had been a member of the lodge since 1942.
He had been a member of the Eagles Lodge since 1942 and in Provo was a paid up life member and had served as president. He had also been an Eagle Trustee prior to his death. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his widow, two sons, Gene C. Cornelius, Springville. Marvin R. Cornelius, Ridgecrest, CA, five daughters, Mrs. Harold (Caroline) Wisker, Amarillo, TX, Mrs. Beryl (Evelyn) Piel, Greeley, CO, Mrs. Mary Wilson, Provo, UT, Mrs. Dick (Rosa) Archer, Denver, CO, Mrs. David (Laura) Ervin, Las Lunas, NM, two step-daughters, Mrs. Ted (Irene) Davis, and Mrs. Ray (Betty) Richins, both of Orem, 57 grandchildren, and 39 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11 am, Berg Drawing Room in Chapel in Provo, where friends may call Thursday from 6 to 8 pm, or Friday prior to services. Burial will be in Provo City Cemetery.

Edith Fuller, Springfield - The funeral will be held Feb 10 for Edith Mabel Fuller of Springfield, who died February 4 of age-related causes. She was 88.
She was born June 26, 1908, Seibert, Colorado, to James and Lena Anderson.
She married C. P. Fuller in Reno, Nevada in 1959. He died in 1983.
Fuller lived in the Springfield area since 1943.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed baking, cross stitching, sewing, quilting and church activities.
She was a member of the Bethel Assembly of God Church in Springfield.
Survivors include four daughters, one living in Springfield, one living San Jose, California, one living Oregon City, and one living in Green Valley, Arizona; two brothers, Jack Anderson of Yakima, Washington and Vernon Anderson of Rochester, Washington; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Three sons, James, Leslie and Paul Cox, and a daughter, Lois Phelps, died previously. Her second husband, Clarence Cox, died in July 1987.
Monday's funeral will be held at 1 pm at the Bethel Assembly of God Church in Springfield, with burial at Lane Memorial Garden in Eugene.

He married Alice Marie Pitzer on Sept. 9, 1944 in Seattle, Wa.
Mr. Anderson worked for Todd Shipyard during WWII. From 1951 to 198l, he worked for J. Herbert Bates Lumber Co. in Wallowa, Oregon. He then worked for Crown Zellerback Lumber Co., Omak until his retirement in 1982.
He was a member of Eagles, Elks, and Oddfellows in Omak and Wallowa, Oregon.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a mechanic and carpenter. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife of Rochester; two sons of Tacoma, WA; a brother, John A. Anderson, Yakima. Four grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was raised in Kansas and at the age of 17 he began working for the Civil Conservation Corp. He came to the Blackfoot area of Southern Idaho looking for work and he met Bernice Large. They were married in Blackfoot and moved to Northern Idaho. Bob began working for Potlatch as a tug boat operator and debarker operator. In 1949, Bob was divorced from Bernice. He married Goldie (Ailers)Pihl who preceded him in death in the early 1970's. He worked for Potlatch for 33 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the Elks for several years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, flying and carpentry. He is survived by one son in Absarokee, MT, one son of Post Falls, ID, one sone of Coos Bay, OR, and one son of Coeur d'Alene, ID; daughters, one daughter of Absarokee, MT, and one daughter of Coeur d'Alene, ID; brothers, one brother of Post Falls, ID, and one brother of Perry, KS; sisters, one sister of San Jose, CA, one sister of Harrington, KS, and one sister of Overbrook, KS; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ralph and Richard and his son, Johnny.

He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Beatrice, Nebraska where he had served as an usher. He was also a member of the Sons of American Legion and Aerie #531 of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He enjoyed his grandchildren, fishing and traveling.
Survivors include his wife, Inez of Beatrice, Nebraska. Two sons, LeRoy Stumme and his wife Nancy of Kearney, Nebraska and David Stumme of Phoenix, Arizona. Mrs. Adams was born Donna Jean Wentz on Feb. 15, 1929, in Glen Elder. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett, in 1982; an infant daughter, Janet Adams, and a grandson.
Survivors include a son Richard Casey of Topeka; and a granddaughter.
A private graveside service will be in Delphos Cemetery.
There will be no visitation. Sheilds Funeral Home, 405 Argyle, Minneapolis, Ks 67467, is handling the arrangements.

Gordon Drew Dye, 82, of National City died Feb. 3. He was born in California and was a truck driver. He was a member of Teamsters Local 36 and First United Methodist Church of National City.

Gordon Drew Dye, Feb. 7, 1925 to Feb. 3, 2008. Gordon is the descendant of the pioneer family Dye/Warnock of Ramona. He was born in Brawley, California, and lived his entire life in San Diego County. He was a member of Teamsters 36 and retired from Calmat. Gordon loved and enjoyed his family and friends. Nothing pleased him more than family get-togethers, camping, boating, dune buggying and gardening. His dogs were always with him and he loved all animals. He was a long time member of the Methodist Church, Zoological Society and retired Teamsters. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, a daughter, and a son and many grandchildren. The Celebration of Life will be Saturday, February 23rd, at 10:30 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church of National City, 8th and C Street. George Washington Wentz married Henrietta Mae Warren, the daughter of Mahlon N. Warren and Essie Irene Gish of Downs, Osborne Co., KS. Henrietta was known as Mae to her family. Henrietta Mae Wentz was born January 22, 1911, Glen Elder, Mitchell Co., KS, and died April 28, 2002, Sunrise Beach, Camden Co., MO, burial Chapel Hill Cemetery in Kansas City, Wyandotte Co., Kansas
George Washington Wentz, moved his family from Mitchell and Osborne Counties, KS, to near the Lake of the Ozarks in 1995, moving there from Platte City, Missouri and South Kansas City, Missouri.
