Vol III 1751-1760William Snook was in Hunterdon County by 1744.Birth order of William/s childre is unknown, except that John is called the eldest son in the will of wife Cateron and listed first in the will of William. It is believed son William, Jr. is buried in Larison's Corner Cemetery, Amwell, and if so, was born @ 1725. According to a military pension application, son Philip was born @ 1740. All five daughters were married before May 1760. and were likely born before 1740. In Cateron's 1763 will, she refers to all children but George as having children. She gave a special bequest to daughter Catharine Stineman, perhaps incidating she is the eldest. In New York city Dutch church, June 14, 1724, Caterina Snoek was baptised, the daughter of William Snook and Anna K. Follepertyn, sponsore were Johannes Snoek and Katherina Follepertyn (NYGB, Record 10/15). Some researchers believe this is William Cateron and Daughter Catherine Snook of Hunterdon County, New Jersey. Based also on NY church records (NYGB Record 16/124), it is believed by some that William Snook's father was Johannes Snook/Snoek widower, who married in March 17, 1727, Coenradina Manderbach/Manerspach, widow of Peter Strouber, both from Germany.Sources: Hunterdon County and New Jersey State will, probates, deeds, and published marriages.
