At the age of 2 his parent moved to Indiana, first locating in Allen County near the Ohio state line, but the same year moved on to Jefferson township, Adams County, where he grew to manhood.
As a young man, he made many trips back to Licking County where most of his relatives lived. He worked on farms and at odd jobs. He also visited many parts of the country, making his home with our folks intermittently. In later life he became a carpenter, at which trade he became a real artisan.
On October 21, 1904 he married Orpha Tumbleson.
