Thomas Mayor

Thomas Mayor was born between 1834 and 1836 at Eccleston.1,2,3,4 He married Elizabeth Woodcock, daughter of Margaret Woodcock, on 28 December 1859 at St. Mary The Virgin, Towngate, Eccleston, Elizabeth's marriage certificate lists Joseph (uncle) as her father, but her birth certificate shows she was the illegitimate daughter of Margaret with no father listed. She may have listed her uncle as her father on the marriage certificate because he seems to have raised her and also to save the embarrassment of listing herself as illegitimate in church records. By 1851, Elizabeth is living with her uncles, Joseph & William.
