About the Genealogist
Evelyn Wornham , daughter of Richard Woodley
and Jane Elizabeth (Wornham) Wickham was born 7 June 1895, in Rensselaer, N.Y., and
married 4 June 1925 to Edward Kinsman Hale, in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. She was a graduate of Vassar, class of 1916, and
of the University of Chicago, MS in 1917. She held a fellowship at the
University of Chicago 1916-1919 and a grant from Harvard for research at Yerkes
Observatory. From 1919 to 1926 she was
employed as an engineer in the Department of Development and Research at the American
Telephone and Telegraph Co., 195 Broadway, New York City.
Her husband was a graduate of Harvard, class of 1914, and earned an MBA from
New York University. During the First World War he served as a navigating officer in the
Navy. He retired from a business career with
the United States Lines In 1951 to devote himself to writing. They have a daughter,
Rosalind (Mrs. Dudley D. Campbell) and four grandchildren, Heather Hale, Christopher
Dudley, Caroline Prentiss and Jennifer Wickham Campbell. |
